A Gift to the Nation

The National Archives of Australia have just released digital copies of the services records of WW1. I have always wondered about my grandfathers role in WW1 and have been on computer all night looking up his service records... although alot of it has been medical records - poor lad was pretty crook over there. It has been excellent to learn about something that i thought i would never know as he never told anyone about his time served...

reccommend that if you know of someone who served to have a look, very easy...

Very slow at the moment, should be better in a week or two when the fuss dies down a bit. Pretty impressive from the little bit of searching that I did

Yeah its a great feeling seeing something your grandfather signed almost 100 years ago... especially something as influential as an enrolment card... that and the fact through his medical records i could trace his footsteps so to speak...thought it was worth passing on coz i got alot out of it!!! will look on this ANZAC day in a new light and admiration
