We drove over from Melbourne, stayed with friends at Davoren Park for 10 days, for a combination of visiting the elderly relatives, catching up with old friends, and taking in the Show. We went to the Show Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and picked up a free park for 2 hours each time within 5 minutes walk. [I'm a Life Member and have free passes so dropping in for short times was fine.] I hadn't been north of Gepps Cross since 1986 and have been in Melbourne since 1998, so it was an interesting experience.

We spent most of our time looking at dogs, and at cattle, alpaca, and goats. I did one tour of the halls while my wife lunched with friends and I had a chat with the Member for Kingston about the duplication of the southern expressway.

We also took in the Monarto Zoo Safari, and visited friends on farms in Mt Compass, and Inman Valley.

Total cost fuel and the odd meal, a new fuel pump for the car, 2 nights at motels, shouting the friends we stayed with to dinner at a suburban restaurant, and a few bottles of wine for dinners at their home. [I'm also a Life Member of the Zoological Society so Monarto was free too.]

We gave up on the Melbourne Show after 2 years - much more commercial and less agricultural than the Adelaide Show.
