They couldn't pull mine so they got the ole hammer and chisel to smash them then pull the pieces out. I had pieces of tooth working their way through the inside of my gum for about 18 months after that.
The noises and the vision of the dentist straddled over me still scares me......................and then there was the extraction.

My recollection has been that other than the boxing day and new years test most aussie tests have always (in my lifetime) started Thursday or Fridays.
