I agree.
I would much rather make use of an SAFooty poster than someone else. Whether it be advice (Like I have asked before on here, sleepers etc) or work (scraping my front yard) I think it's valuable.
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

I don't know if this has been tried before but I think that it might be beneficial to a lot of people if we can set up a business directory & save it on this site, so if you have a service to offer (a genuine service, that is), then you may wish to register your business name, contact details & what you can offer. It can be listed alphabetically, eg: arborists, balloon sellers, curtains, dog washers etc., etc. Thoughts, anyone?

Great idea

I have just called about 15 people and still don't know who will and can do the job I require.
I am happy to pay cash and just want the job done.

I will need many more tradies and guess I will have to keep asking around the club to get someone to do it for me.

Another option would be a referral business directory.

If you get a job done well, you give them a plug by posting the business' details on here. If someone uses the referral, then when they ring up they tell the person they saw a reference plugging their work on SA Footy. Alternatively a Mod rings the named business and says they are getting plugged on the site and would they like to make a donation.

Would suggest that it would require a dedicated thread under General Discussion and that topic titles list the service - eg "Paving", "Whitegoods". Content should provide contact details (including a name and tel no), a short testimonial and any other info that is pertinent.

SA Footy Posters can then have the option to either put their own details up, or to get a fellow Poster to put their details up with a testimonial.

Just a thought, anyway. ???

There's already a feed-back website up and running in Australia for products and services (maybe more for products I expect).

I forget what its called but a family in Victoria (I think) made a stack of $$$$$$ when they sold the site recently to one of the big web-site companies

Because we have a forum layout we would need a way to make it useable without having to plough the 10 pages of comments and I am not sure how it would work without a lot of work for someone to maintain it. The other issue is what to do in the unlikely ( ) event that a referral on here turns out badly.

Centurions good idea is going around in circles a bit maybe we just need to leave it with the mods/admin to decide what they want to do with it, if anything

It would be good to also include players in directory as I am guessing a good amount of them would be plumbers, sparkies, painters, chippies, etc. (just a way for supporters to help players get some extra cash in hand away from the celery cap).

Punk has already been out to my place, I didn't reveal the location of our flammables. I'm pretty certain he has a 'travel kit' in his car just in case though.
