Just don't the thing/s roam around your neighbourhood, really shits me when people just let their cats roam the neighbourhood to kill local wildlife, taunt dogs and pee and poo everywhere.

Can anyone explain to me why any animal has any less right to live than a human? All of those who think "just kill it" is a valid response then answer this. Children give me the shits. Absolutely annoy the hell out of me. Should i just go out and kill them? Why is a human life worth more than another animal?

I can perfectly understand the food chain but killing simply for the sake of killing is just pathetic.

Agreed - totally unnecessary.

Our Siamese is 10 years old and has been outdoors twice when she managed to push the screen of the bathroom window. But she only ever shows an interest in going outdoors when something attracts her interest - like the King Parrots on the verandah or the Kookaburra on the clotheline - and once a couple of feral Red Deer browsing our back lawn.

All children give you the shits? Pretty sad if that's the case.

Depends on how far you want to take it, using your argument I shouldn't kill flys as they give me the shits.

If they were bred appropriately, looked after appropriately and never let loose then there would be no need to kill them.
I'd prefer to kill the idiots that let their cats out at as they're the cause.
There's nothing wrong with a responsibly owned cat. In my experience that's a minority though.

How so? A lot of people don't like football or beer or the internet or lawn bowls etc. does that make them sad. Children give me the shits. Maybe i'm a bad person but that's the way it is.

Replace the word cat with kid and i agree fully. Strange that the life of one animal is worth less than that of another in so many peoples opinions. Hitler thought the same though.

Yes, definately, add sex, travel, bundy and rugby league into the equation and you've just described the only worthwhile things in life!

But hang on, you don't like all kids and then say if they're bred appropriately, looked after appropriately and never let loose then there you don't have an issue with them?

Agreed fully if that's the case, except once again I don't blame the cats/kids, I blame the owners/parents.

You didn't address my point regarding flys. :?

(I refuse to call them flies, a personal thing  )

Both sides have a point here. Properly brought up and controlled pets are not a problem, and that applies to kids too.

I get on well with young children but chose not to have any of my own for several reasons, one being that you can be the sole influence on your cat or dog or python or whatever, but at a certain point with children outside influences and the media take control and tend to turn them into things you would rather not have to put up with..

I did once work out a way of putting them into electro-sleep at 13 and waking them at 25, when the hormonal balance settles and allows maturity to develop. I have had support for the idea from friends with kids in that age group. Some have offered to put down a deposit to help me develop it.

There is an old psych. joke that rings true. "Madness is hereditary, we get it from our children!"

Falcon Chick is on the money.

With the water sprayer, add a bit of vinegar as well. It doesn't take long before simply showing the bottle has the desired outcome!

Treats also work - reward good behaviour for positive reinforcement. Don't be too generous though. Our cat gets treats after any unpleasant experience like worming tablets of flea treatments. Plus it gets treats after a brush. It doesn't get treats just for the sake of it though.

Good to keep them up by day if possible and put them to bed when you're ready. Give them a designated spot for the long term - would suggest not a bedroom but probably the laundry. Make it a place for them with basket, toys etc. Otherwise 4am streaks across the bed will become commonplace!

4.06am - without fail....

Your cat doesn't like being brushed? Chan would let me brush him all day!

The cat loves being brushed and loves the treats afterwards as well. The treats started when the brushing started and have just continued ever since.

I got a nice variant on the usual car sticker:
The only good cat is the one that beats Port by 119pts in a Grand Final.
