Just keep your kids away from computers until they are 18. It would be good for them to learn to write, spell, and do arithmetic without a machine anyway.

You're right. Wrap them up in cotton wool and they can learn that stuff on the jobs they'll never get.

Sorry should have added a wink or something - It didn't occur to me someone might take me totally seriously.

I was serious about it being useful for younger kids to learn how to do arithmetic without a calculator though. So many times in shops young staff don't even notice when a calculator whose battery is nearly dead gives a patently ridiculous total. Should we teach people to be so dependent on the machines??

Great link to the actual story RR, if only people out there knew how much of this sort of stuff is going on out there, it is very scarey and unfortunatly may well lead to many a teenage death or serious injury
