Disappointing....

Postby Lunchcutter » Mon May 29, 2006 1:07 pm

boy it's so disappointing to hear the greyhound racing industry is in such disarray and turmoil.... i have such wonderful memories of Thursday nights at "the dogs" in the early to mid eightees where my grandparents would take my younger brother and I each week... a time when the entire undercover betting area was full of heaps of peoples and noise and it would take you 5-10 minutes to negotiate across to the other side... food vans inside and the windows around the ring all full of people wanting to place bets etc....,a time when you could watch the dogs being paraded before the game and where that cool old bloke would sell ya a couple of hot yummy pie or pasties as you walked out after the last race.... it was a battle just to make it up the ramp after the bell went to see the start of the race, would be heaps of peeps outside to watch the race with the grassed areas filled in summer and kids playing everywhere.... have been to see the dish lickers in the last few months and nearly cried.... no atmosphere at all, only about twenty people in chasers diner, and imho the food their is crapola..... not a person in the old downstairs betting area and only one on course bookie, him too set up upstairs..... is a shame but I guess a sign of the times and just another example (see trots, thorough breds etc) how the pokie machines have ruined it for the other gambling industries.. boy feeling very semtimental at the moment forgive my indulgence.... :(

LUNCHCUTTER

Those were the days I agree.

Whats the answer?
What needs to be done to get you back?

Any comments about admissions, grog, food etc.

Big Brother will get back to you! nah seriously give me some time to put my thinking cap on and come up with some ideas... hate to say it but I reckon already the gambling dollar is being stretched to its absolute limit.. how bout the state government banning pokies from hotels... that might be a good start.. but until then reckon the dogs may be fighting a losing battle..... hoooo huuummmmmm bring back the old days!... :(

WHERE ARE THEY NOW???????????????

MY MAte TC

had a dog called final force - trainer malthouse

he took his family there for a 7-30 race[approx time] and told them he was there
to see his dog as the kids had to be home straight after for school the next day.

thay made them pay admission, he saw the race left in disgust
HAS NEVER BEEN BACK TO ANGLE PK
will never get another dog

he used to be in the westender and allcodes syndicate and get in for FREE to
see his dogs run.

another MIA [missing in action]!!!!!

WHAT A DISGRACE THAT IS, TO MAKE THEM PAY ADMISSION FOR 30 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is just one of many stories about MISSING IN ACTION!!!!!!!!!

pure octane nomination f..k up for the adelaide cup carnival

dapto dropped $5-50 admission ..61 % increase bar and restaraunt,41% increase tab

2 years ago put up prices of drinks adelaide cup night which meant a beer and soft drink came close to the $10!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cosi from triple m tried to promote club...no phone calls to him. how ridiculous is that, they could have had free promotion. He likes to get down to the track to see his dog Go Wild Cosmo run.

a lib. member sent a letter and there was no response to her correspondence

20,000 recent pay rise to executives !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the execs get a pay rise and the trainers/owners take a pay cut
