DA- it's not the new home-owners who'll take a hit/absorb loss. but those who are speculating, have probably missed the time to sell at the premium price. These speculators will stil record a profit, but it also has the chance of being wound back a touch.
Again, supply & demand is the real driving force behind property values.

Huh? Sorry mate, lost me a little there. I agree that supply and demand drives the price of everything.
I guess the point I was making is that in Aus, we haven't built the ridiculous glut of housing that the Americans have found themselves with.

The real drive behind property prices is one thing and one thing only, how much is somebody prepared to pay for it?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

China has still got almost 10% growth, as has India and South America
We have been americanised.
America, and Europe have only had 3% growth for the last 2 years
Who cares if they drop 3%
the 3 growth areas make that up and more
Did you know that there are more millionaires in China than our entire population
Sell the house and buy all the BHP shares you can

Did read in the Financial Review a couple of weeks ago prices areas of China's residential property market had fallen by 35% in the past couple of years.
