Collected newspaper money when I was 12. Until I was bitten on the arm by a Rotty! Wish we had a litigous society back then, the only benefit I got was that the people paid for their newspapers for the first time in 3 months!

Then I got a job in CC Records at 15, then at 16 I worked at a butchers, 17 at the BP in Elizabeth Vale followed by BP at Golden Grove at 18.

Ignoring student vacation jobs:
24 when I finally finished Medicine and could start earning any money working 130 hours a week at the RAH for peanuts.
30 when I finished specialist training and could walk out on the public system and start earning a living.
55 when the tide had turned and I could now make a better living in the public service, if the states were actually filling the empty positions.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

I started my apprenticeship the day I turned 16. Was a fitter qualified by time turned 20.
Before that worked at a bakery when 14 and a few butcher shops as well. All after school and Saturdays. Parents never gave me pocket money even though also used to sweep up hair at mum's hair dressing salon from a very early age. (possibly during kindy time)- should have been in the union back then!!!
