Sunshine Coast

Postby Felch » Mon Feb 23, 2009 12:10 pm

I am looking at heading up to the Sunshine Coast for about a week in June hopefully. I was wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to stay, or places to steer clear of.

Accomodation has to be kid-friendly.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Felch, I stayed at a pretty nice place at Noosa about two years ago.
A walk across the road from the beach, beautiful pool, spa.
Tennis courts, playground.
Really good facilities, good value.
Plenty of room.
Buses, including tour buses, stop outside and it's bordered by a strip of restaurants.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

We have been there twice in the past 4 years and stayed here last year in Caloundra -

Nice spot not far from the inlet

Wouldnt recommend staying in Noosa, good for a day trip but way to commercialised these days and you pay for it

Caloundra is great, while it is like heavens waiting room it also has some great spots like King Beach - great for kids

Mr MK and I were in Mooloolabah in November. We fell in love with our apartment at:

Noosaville - best spot on the Sunny Coast. Right on the Noosa River. Hire a BBQ boat for the day & explore. (T Boats are pretty good). Ferry into Noosa Heads (Hastings Street) for a gander, then back again. Fishing - even if you don't like fishing. Great eateries along the river too. Great walk & have yourself a BBQ in the park along the river. Grab a beer at the Noosa Yacht Club and watch the sun disappear, then hang around for a feed. Best kept secret in the place. Hire bikes for an easy cycle. (How old them kids?). Maybe even check out a Noosa Tigers AFL game??

Moolloollooba - great place with older kids, but a bit expensive.
Coolum - ok. Exposed beach (ie rough). Great surf club for a feed.
Caloundra - Kings Beach pretty good
Marcoola (Surfair)- again, expose beach & not much to do apart from resort facilities (Bottleshop stocks Coopers though)
Noosa Beach (Hastings St) - Day trip only. Too expensive & over-rated. Great beach & surf club. Once you've been fed, head back to the sanity of Noosaville (your hip pocket will love you).
With your hands on your head, or the trigger of your gun

Rainbow Beach is really a nice place to go. Nice sandy beach that seems to go for ever.
