hamburgers, corporates v local fish'n'chip or chicken shops

Postby bayman » Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:28 pm

i had a hamburger from the local fish shop tonight & i get one every now & then & i was thinking that the local fish shop hamburgers are better than the corporate franchises 'burger stores' (both)

so what would you prefer your local or hj's or macca's ? ANOTHER GRUB hj's doesn't mean what you think it means ;)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Local - real burgers!

Better value for money, too.

Chip'N'Dale's in Chippendale comes highly recommended.

Ditto Clem's Chicken in Newtown.

My general takeaway theory is thus: the scungier the shop, the better the food.

Don't trust these spick and span joints.

Gimme wall panelling, scuffed lino, ceiling fans, hand-written menus, faded Coke posters from the 70s and ancient, banged-up stoves any day.

Also find that old Greek couples usually make the best takeaway...
Everyone can eat s#!t! A big bag of s#!t! I'm the greatest man in the world!

def local but most of the time when i do buy fast food its more of a time and convenience factor so a local shop takes to long to prepare it. hence why i dont use red rooster they are useless

well the locals beat the corporates any day, but sometimes it comes down to convenience.

Having said that I know a pub that dishes out food faster then Maccas

Blue and White in North Adelaide. When I was at college I spent more time drunk/wasted in there than at Uni.

ABs and steak burgers with the lot were the favourites. Dominates over the Red and White.

nothing better then a real hamburger from a fish/chip shop etc. get something decent for what you pay for, instead of the bun and meat pattie that HJs or maccas server up.

Undoubtably from a local Fish and Chip shop, Snack Bar etc., the corporates don't even come close.

Local easily. Hamburgers from Select Chicken at Para Hills are pretty good if you get the right person to cook it.
