HOF

Go and join the Forces under their apprenticeship program, you'll get paid normal force wages and learn exactly the same thing.

and there's a lot more to choose from.

If you are choosing between plumbing and electrical, head down the plumbing path. I work in the electrical industry, and also know quite a few plumbers. The domestic electrical game is basically stuffed, too many backyard electricians under-cutting each other and making no money. Plumbers have kept their margins generally high, and seem to make much more money. Plumbing supplies shops have also kept their market pretty good, where as in the electrical wholesaling game, the guts has basically been cut out of everything. And the market has been flooded with cheap, imported and inferior products.

If your mind is made up that you don't want to finish Year 12, or go to Uni, then you are better off getting out and starting an apprenticeship, IMO. Alot better than just wasting time at school, when you could be out learning job skills.

Even if you change your mind down the track and want to go to Uni - as i am doing now, a year 12 completion is not essential (obviously depending on what you weant to study).

I totally agree.

But remember HOF, whatever apprenticeship/traineeship you get...
Hardwork = Reward

My son was in the same boat as you, didn't want to really be at school,
So instead of wasting his time and the teachers/schools time he went out and got a traineeship,
Has never looked back.

Are you sports minded HOF??

This is who my son is doing his traineeship through.

Hey HOF if I had a young lad like yourself, my advice to him would be learn how to be a locksmith with the goal of running your own business... money for jam - heaps of people everyday either lose their keys or lock them in their house with no way of getting in to retrieve them.. the last time i did this my dh was in Sydney and my dog was locked inside with the wall heater on full boar... called the locksmith dude out ... he told me the charge was $150 bucks and strangely enough I didn't even get a new key cut for that! he just picked my front door lock and then whammo i was inside.. (in total took about 10 mins).. so think about becoming a locksmith - that's my tip! :-bd
RIP my DH 1964 - 2009 - You were one of the best and I miss you
