Tiger Airways - be very careful...

I'm flying Tiger for the first time over to watch Crows vs Hawks in a couple weeks time. Bought the tickets knowing the risk, the only reason we're even going is because of the cheap tickets so if their's a delay so be it.

We're only scheduled to arrive in Melb @ 4:30pm Fri so only going to buy our footy tickets at the gate just in case of a delay. :-)

If I was flying to be somewhere at a certain time I would definitely go with Virgin or Qantas.

I reckon that's pretty much the attitude you need to take with them.

If it's vital you're on time, don't fly with them. If you do fly with them, get there at least an hour and a half before the flight. Also, if at all possible, just take your 7 kilo or less hand luggage and no check in luggage. They literally have a couple of people unloading the plane (it's just one of the reasons the tickets are so cheap), so it takes ages for the bags to come out.

They run at well over 80% of flights arriving on time or very close to it, so chances are you're gonna be OK. Just don't rely on it.

However, the CIB had booked me to come back on Jetstar and the officer who drove me to the airport got me there 5 minutes late because of delays at the court.
Even when he flashed his badge and offered to vouch for me there was no flex with Jetstar.

The CIB then had to drive me back to Surfers, put me up in a Motel overnight, and then send another officer in the early morning to drive me from Surfers to Brisbane for a morning flight as I had late morning appointments in Adelaide. It also cost them another day of my fees for appearing as I was most of a day later getting back.
They weren't pleased with Jetstar..

I thought you'd have your own plane or helicopter mate.

I would like to see Tiger airways banned from Australia, they are the only airline that refuses tickets to disabled people that require assistance to board and I think its disgusting that the Federal Government allowed and continues to allow them to operate with such racist policies and backward attitudes towards the disabled.

I'm very surprised that this is allowed in this day and age...

I had a few flying lessons many years ago, but jibbed at the maintenance costs.
Maybe I should check out the small plane or chopper option again now I don't have a wife to pay for... ;)

Tiger Airways will launch flights from Adelaide to Sydney and will also announce the sponsorship of the Glenelg Tigers Football Club.

Members of the Glenelg Tigers Football Club, including CEO Stephen Barratt, players, management, mascot and cheer squad, will meet Tiger Airways Australia Managing Director, Shelley Roberts, at the Tiger Airways boarding lounge at Adelaide Airport to formally announce the association between the two Tiger teams ahead of the inaugural flight from Adelaide to Sydney.

Ms Roberts says Tiger Airways is thrilled to be the only domestic airline in Australia to have a crew base in Adelaide and that the airline is excited to be able to support the local Tigers.

“We’re the fastest growing airline in Australia today. It’s great that we can give back to the communities that support us,” Ms Roberts said.

“Adelaide is our second home, so the local Tiger team is an obvious choice for us to sponsor as we both have our sights on future growth in South Australia.”

Glenelg Tigers Football Club CEO Steven Barratt thanked Tiger Airways for its support.

“The Glenelg Football Club is delighted to enter into a relationship with Tiger Airways. This relationship allows our club to travel around Australia knowing that we will be well looked after whilst enabling both businesses to grow and prosper in the Adelaide market,” Mr Barratt added.

Flew with them to Coolongatta a fortnight ago and flight went well enought but when we landed the carousel that brings your luggage through the hole in the wall broke down and it took them an hour to repair it and it was very frustrating to know that your luggage is only on the other side of the wall and we couldn't even walk out and just pick it up ourselves as this would have created a "security issue".
