I remember one dayers played at Adelaide Oval in the early to mid eighties. Getting there at least an hour or two before the gates opened, and being about 50th or 100th in line even at that early hour. The Yobbos would be already be drinking and ground security would go around doing last minute eski checks before opening the gates.
I got there at about opening time the first time I went in about 1982, and it was too late, there would have been thousands in line already. We wandered around for a long time without being able to see anything over everyone's heads until I decided to climb over the greehouse material that encased the scaffolding under the commentary box. We had a good view, and lots of room, until everyone else did the same. It got squashy pretty quick but at least we got a view.
