the abc commentator neville oliver

he spent sometime in adelaide with the abc before he started doing the cricket & had shifted back to tassie but what has happened since & why doesn't he do the cricket anymore ???
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I thought that I heard him on the radio today, must be me.
Could be in India to cover the Final between Aust and WI for ABC.

I'll think you find he resigned from the ABC in protest at the 1st round of cuts by Howard in in about 1999.

IIRC he stood for parliament for the ALP in Tassie not long after but didn't get in , but given the ALP won I reckon hw owuld have got an advisors job in the Bacon / Lennon Govts.

I saw him in Alice Springs for the NT invitational side game against the West Indies in Nov 2000.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The good Doctor "accepted a redundancy", i heard announced on the ABC.

I thought he was great.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.
