11/11

Anything!

11/11

Postby mal » Sat Nov 11, 2006 12:21 am

The 11th day of the 11th month at 11 minutes past 11.
Remembering the men + women who fought for the
beliefs of the time and on other occasions the defence of our nation.

Three members of my family have been involved in conflict and
we have been spared any loss of life.

For those who have lost a loved one my sincerest condolances.
11/11 is a moment of silence and rememberance.

Well said.

Two from my family went, two came back.

Will most certainly be remembering ALL who have served us and continue to serve us.

Long live Australian Freedom and thanks to those who have fought for it and continue to preserve it.

What he said....

Thanks to all the boys who went over those who came back and those that never did.

Even though I didn't appreciate it at the time, I met "Weary" Dunlop when I was 12 as his daughter in law is a "surrogate" mother to me. Wedgie you want a book to read, go read his war diaries.......

Gives new meaning to the footy term "sacrificial act"......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Four that I know of went and what was left of one after Changi, came back. It is with great pride and the utmost respect that I salute the sacrifices made by these young people in my family here and in NZ and those in all others around the world.

Had a Grandfather and Great Uncle go, one returned one didn't ... The courage and sacrifice these men and women made for us would be incomprihenisible to most of us and for that our gratitude will/must live forever.
