I'm with you SJABC - very rarely eat the franchise foods.

Greenacres Chicken and Chips shop is a corker.

But you can't beat the Lumpy's Pizza Pit (Hampstead Road Broadview) pick up deals.

Mate, KFC finances the largest destruction of virgin rainforest taking place on the planet. Just do a google on palm oil action to see what is going on. Ramifications of this include the loss of habitat for orangutans and a hefty contribution of CO2 to the atmosphere in the form of resultant peat fires, as well as removing our most formidable defense against global warming in the form of that rainforest getting destroyed.
I did a little research and discovered that Japan (as in where I live) KFC do not use palm oil to cook their chicken, claiming that the franchise would have failed in Japan owing to the inferior taste (Japanese love fried chicken and have several of their own recipes). Interesting, as before I discovered about their global vadalism I actually thought Japan's KFC was much tastier than Australia's, I reckon it must be the palm oil, the same palm oil being sapped from those orangutans homes, our defense against CO2 and the source of all them peat fires.
KFC is not cool.

Weren't Red Rooster (or maybe Chicken Treat, I forget) on TT the other week for their lack of adherence to hygiene standards?

I'm a Noodle Box fan personally, but it's not at the cheaper end of the fast food scale ... Probably hard to go past the value in Pizza (referring only to the local independent stores where pizza actually tastes like it should - not that Domino's excuse for Pizza)

it was RED ROOSTER on tv the other week, but it was the franchises in QLD that they were questioning, but if it happens at one it is likely to happen at all of them.

Just like a SUBWAY in my area, knew a guy who worked there - he left due to the very poor unhygenic way in which staff operated and the fact that salads and meats were left out overnight..........

I used to work for a air freight company based at the airport, and a flight came in from Sydney. On board 200 k of. They ran out in Adelaide so flew them over. No problems except it was in middle of summer, the boxes had no ice packs/dry ice etc. On the way from the aircraft to the shed, a few boxes fell off the barrow onto the tarmac and split everywhere. We shovelled the salad back into the bags, and told the driver who came to pick them up...no worries, they'll be good was the reply...
Ewww...never ate a salad from this chicken place EVER again...

not quite as bad but i know a place around Melbourne Cup day were having Prawns etc on the menu

the guys who deliver the food to various sections dropped a couple of boxes of the prawns on the floor and like you shovelled them back up and they were dished out later that day...........i guess a bit of flavouring never hurt!!!!!!

I refuse to buy KFC as much as I love it after finding out the way they treat their chickens breeding them to be so fat that their legs break and they sit in their cages with broken legs.

Red Rooster is quite unique in that IMHO there's no similarity in the quality of food between different franchises.
I better not name the exact franchises but there's one near where I live that is top quality and makes beautiful food even though it can be a wait. BUT there's one a little bit closer to town from where I live that is nothing short of disgusting.
