Ever Met Your Namesake?

Postby Wedgie » Mon Oct 29, 2007 11:03 am

Got a phone call last night and it was someone with exactly the same first and surname as me, possibly the only other in the world.
He's here for 3 days from America and wants to meet with me tomorrow evening.
I think he's into family trees and all that sort of stuff.
I s'pose I'll meet him but my Dad was adopted so the only thing we'll have in common is the same name so it'll seem a bit strange. :?

Had something similar not so long ago, made me wonder how the person got hold of my details, phone number and address, seeing I have a silent number etc. Tried to arrange a family meeting and was pretty pissed off when I knocked it back. Am very skeptical about these type of people.

Hi sig gives it away, its one of the umpires who yell "Noooo Bingo" on the Bingo show on C7.
I didn't realise they had more than 1 till I had a look online then as I'd only ever seen the guy with the mo that was on the chaser.

Yes, the whole show is annoying. Caught it for a total of about 47 seconds last night and have had that stupid call in my head ever since. Thought I would share the joy.

Now get this thread back on topic or the mods and site admin will be onto us all...

OK, anyway, he's ringing me tonight, if he's around my work area for lunch I might agree to that otherwise bugger it, he might be into geneology but I don't really give a rats especially since he's not even a blood relation.
He did pass on some interesting info last night that there was a person with the same 1st, 2nd and surname who died when he was 16.
At least I can say that I've outlived everyone with exactly the same name. :D

I recently interviewed a girl with the same sirname as me.
She got a message from her boss that I'd booked a time to see her "----- ------- has booked a time to see you."
Her reply was "My dad doesn't need an appointment to come in and see me."

Soooo...I've interviewed the daughter of the bloke who shares my name.....

He's a pig farmer.
There's also a wine maker in the Barossa with the same name, while a very famous Hall of Fame football administrator also shares my name.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Many years ago a colleague took me into Yatala to interview an inmate and give an opinion. He took great delight in introducing me to the Prison Superintendent whose name was the same as mine.
