well all this is 'alledged' atm

a girl got pulled over & 'pinged' for not displaying her p plates & i think they said not wearing a seat belt as well, the girl was at the time emotional & pleaded for him not to give her a ticket as she needed & wanted her licence, the cop after work went to the girls place & asked how much did she really need her licence & what was she willing to do for it, he demanded 'sexual favours' & i'll presume she said no because he is facing court, which as i said earlier i wonder how many times as he done this in the past & girls feeling intimidated that they had no other choice

A TRAFFIC cop has admitted asking a young female motorist for sexual favours in return for not giving her a ticket.

Sen-Constable David John Mits, 43, yesterday pleaded guilty at Melbourne Magistrates' Court to seeking a bribe from the P-plate driver.

He stopped the woman in Bayswater in January last year and later told her that female motorists in the past had "offered me things to try and get off ".

"Very often we get to see legs right up past their thighs, if you get my drift," Sen-Constable Mits allegedly said.

"Buttons have been known to mysteriously become undone, pretty much all the way down."

The policeman was stationed at Knox Traffic Management Unit when he pulled the woman over for not wearing a seatbelt and failing to display P-plates.

She had only two demerit points left, having previously been caught speeding, and explained that she needed her licence for work.

After getting her mobile number he later called and allegedly asked the young woman what she was willing to do to stay on the road.

Later that day he went to her house in a marked police car, and returned when his shift was over using his own car.

Suspicious of his unprofessional behaviour, the woman used her MP3 player to secretly record their last conversation, in which Sen-Constable Mits allegedly told her she was good-looking and that it would work in her favour.

When she asked if he was suggesting she do something sexual, he replied: "Some have offered in the past . . . but I don't want people to offer it if they don't want to".

"I was shocked with what he was asking," the woman told police, having called 000 after the policeman left.

Sen-Constable Mits, of Boronia, pleaded guilty to one count of corruptly seeking favours in violation of his official duty as a police officer.

Magistrate Jelena Popovic released him on bail and ordered him to face the County Court in May.

According to the article he took her phone number and went round after hours, but the canny girl taped the conversation on her mp3 player.

Pretty disgusting attempt to abuse his position (no pun intended) but to be realistic I'll bet it's a lot more common than most people think or would like to believe and I'm not just taking about Aus or the police.

jas might be right, a mate of mine is a cop & he'd get an offer at least once a week & is very tempted at times but says it isn't worth the hassle that could come with it

Dog_ger I agree that the legal system needs to be beyond reproach but the people that make it what it is are only human and subject to human failings like anyone else. I had no intention of suggesting that most would do what he did but I'm certain quite a few have either tried or received offers. But I think most would believe that the risks are just not worth it, like bayman has suggested.

Like I said it probably doesn't just apply to the police either. I'll bet there are taxi drivers who have accepted 'favours' when someone doesn't have enough money for the fare. Nothing against taxi drivers...just the first trade I thought of. I also reckon that it works both ways...bet there are plenty of women who have offered 'favours' too.

Seriously though, Taxi drivers copping blowies is nowhere near as bad as cops doing it. In fact I have no probs with it at all. They're not in a position of authority over the blowee. Just swapping money for sex basically, whereas the policeman is abusing his position of authority to exert influence on the blowee.

Assume you're talking about unlicensed ones (I'm guessing you have a taxi licensing system like we do). Even here people are always warned against using them...that applies to both men and women after a guy up here was murdered by an unlicensed driver and his mates.
