Smilies - Qu for Mods

Postby Squawk » Wed Jul 16, 2008 12:15 pm

Have trade restrictions recently been placed on emoticons/ smilies?

Although not a prolific user of emoticons/smilies myself, I thought the max was 10, but now it seems the max is 4.

What a waste, you had 3 more to use...

Yep, smileys are in short supply, therefore, we need to place restrictions on such precious commodities :D

Thus, the 4 smiley limit now applies..

ROFLMAO (please dont restrict acronyms to max of 4 letters only, or that will be out too!)

This news has now hit the boards in the West vs Glenelg thread. Some unhappy campers I fear...

Yes.

R&R&R&ROFLMAO

It's a big tax "increase" though - only 4 smilies. Why 4 I wonder, and not 2 or 6? Can you file a smilie tax return and get a smilie rebate at the end of the season?

I believe you just cant express yourself sufficiently with a 2 smiley limit, 6 however, would be deemed on the wrong side of more than half the old limit

Get it?

Slight problem in quoting other posts in replying to a discussion.
I had to go through and delete smileys in the other people's posts quoted before I could use one myself in my last post in the SANFL section...
That's a bit of a pain as it may modify the apparent sense of the exchange.

The smilie limitation always existed Psyb., just now it's likely to be a little more common initially ... Hopefully once people become accustomed to this new limit they will become a bit more frugal with their usage of smilies.

In the alternative to the sweeping smilie tax, why couldn't we have instituted a smilie pollution offset trading scheme?
