Worst Pizza on Earth

Tonight I had the worst pizza on earth.
Now Pedro's normally do fantastic work, so I thought I'd try their "Gourmet Chicken"- if anyone can show me where the chicken is on it, I'd be thrillled.
You pay extra for these pizzas, I'd expect nice thick pieces of roast chicken, thick cut mushroom, garlic, tomato on top in nice slices- pretty much like the picture in their brochure...
What I got was a kamikaze effort at best.
Was wondering whether they even put chicken salt on it.
So I'm giving their gourmet range the arse.

They are a franchise and should abide by the Simple Simon says philosphy.
I suggest ring em, tell em, and make waves.
It may be a one off, inexperienced staff etc.

I'd like to challenge Pedro's worst pizza title on behalf of 50% of all pizzas made in Japan.
Seaweed, corn, soy-sauce, mayonnaise...if I had a menu on hand I could deliver some real crackers, this is just from memory as these are the 4 toppings that keep popping up time and again. The general rule seems to be to have a contest and see who can come up with the most ingredients that just don't belong on a pizza, and then make a pizza using those ingredients. I have even seen corn-chips on pizza over here. The base is usually the worst part, often it is like a Sao biscuit complete with huge caverns of air that the surrounding pastry caves in around. We actually spend up big if we come across a Pizza Hut. They have the best Pizzas for sale in Japan so far as I have experienced. The only problem is that they are very few and far between. The nearest one to me is about 500 kms away.
So I make my own.

cant get a good pizza in australia period...if you have tasted a slice from a corner pizza place overe here (they are like fish n chip shops back home) you know what im talkin ABOUT!!!

pizza by the slice, plain cheese with a sprinkling of chili flakes on it....sensational . i reckon a pizza by the slice franchise in oz would go down a treat (american style pizza tho )

There is a pizza bar dispensing it by the slice in the departures lounge in Melbourne airport. The fetid quality of the pizza is matched only by the exorbitancy of the price.

Recently had a Pizza at San Giorgio's (I think thats the place) and it was fantastic ... Otherwise you can't beat the little self owned stores (Riverside Pizza Bar at Seaton in particular) - You can stick your Domino's and Pizza Hut stuff where the shine aint shining...

Yep, Laurie been doing a great job for years ... I regularly used to stagger into Joe's on the way home many years ago (until I fell asleep in the bus shelter one night), and yep they make a great pizza too.

Ahhh...memories Jimmy, was there in 2001 and thought I better try this american pizza thing and all they had was the base, tomato paste and cheese...but it was the BEST pizza I have ever had, no idea why its so good but it is, they have a few variatiosn from this but most are very basic.

Jimmy - do they still have those mobile stalls on the corners in the morning where you can get an egg and bacon roll that they cook in front of you?? that was a winner also...the other thing I rememebr about New York is ordering an Ice Coffee and getting a cold black coffee with Ice in it!!

Considering I despise cheese and don't have any on my pizzas I have a feeling I'd find American pizzas a tad boring!

It's been done . There's a place here in St Kilda called NYPD (New York Pizza Deli). They sell by the slice or the complete Pizza. My wife loves it. Says it reminds her on when she was in New York. Personally I don't like it. Too salty and not enough flavour. All depends on what you are use to I suppose.

There's plenty of places in Oz that sell Pizza by the slice ... Perhaps not as many in Adelaide (other than in food courts etc) as in the Eastern states (although there was one in Hindley St for a little while)

In italy there are laws about what constitutes a pizza - only cheese, tomato and some herbs from memory. if you start adding other stuff they have to call it a pie, was there last year and heard a US tourist say they do pizza alot better in the states!

Pizza bar in Fortituted Valley (QLD Nightclub distrcit) is very good after a night of drinking, much better ''drunk food'' than anything on Hindley Street or Kings Cross.

Great thread this. I love talking about Pizza..food in general actually.
Best Pizza I have had is a toss up between several small Pizza joints in Adelaide, the ones I can remember are Saint's Pizza close in around the North East somewhere, El Dorado around the Kingswood area, Winston Ave Pizza Bar near Colonel Light Gardens made a sensational chicken pizza, Hyde Park Pizza Bar had chunks of the Mediterannean on some of their pizzas, every bite was the taste of a little castle villa set amongst vineyards and olive groves overlooking an azure blue sea Little Chez's on Grange road made a great pizza, Flip's out on Glynburn Road won an award a few years back for pizza, I had the good fortune to eat their stuff at the time and it was pretty good.
I don't even know if half of these places are around anymore, I am never in town long enough to find out.
Very interested in tasting a New York pizza, and finding out what the hype is about. I must confess this is the first time I have heard of anybody bar the Seppos themselves praising it above Australian pizzas.

Anyone remember Pizza Haven when it started as a restaurant cnr Brighton Rd/Anzac Hwy? We used to go there as a family - it was fantastic with totally fresh ingredients, you'd watch them toss the dough, look in awe at the big octopus' that you'd get on a seafood pizza, talk to the family who ran it. Awesome.

Then all of a sudden there was an egg. A huge polystyrene egg that sat in the corner with a sign that said something like "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?". After what seemed like months they had an opening do and out popped 'Harry Haven', a shortlived lame-arse mascot signalling that Pizza Haven were going into the delivery game up against Dino's (remember they were the only ones doing it, red phone on car and all).

Not long later the restaurant closed, the dial-a-pizza franchise went into overdrive and their boxes ended up tasting better than their pizza. Boo Pizza Haven!
