This is an email that my Aunty has send to me

I know we have ALL been devestated by the bushfires in Victoria and a lot of us are saying ' How can we help'.?

Of course there is the monetry donations which is fine if that is what you like to do, and dont forget, there are other things we can do - Blood is needed if you are a blood donor, AND also, the more immediate things are needed and tonight I heard on the TV about Sarahs Bushfire Appeal where she is encouraging people to donate actual goods - toiletries, clothes etc...as the money isnt actually helping a lot of them right now.

It is being endorsed by 5AA and there are several drop off points throughout Adelaide. I am happy to deliver anything that is dropped to me or I can maybe pick up, if Im in the area, or as you can see below, there are several drop-off points as well.
Also, volunteers are needed to sort and pack these goodies.... if you want to be involved in that, go to the 5AA website and register - you might see me there!

From the website -
What do they need?
Clothing

Men's
Women's
Children's
Babies
Teen's
Toddler's
all clean ready to wear
Shoes - good quality

Blankets

all clean ready to use
all good quality

Toiletries

toothpaste/toothbrushes
soap
shampoo/conditioner
powder
deodorant

Toys

Other Items required

We cant imagine the enormity of this disaster to these poor people, and Im sure we will all do what we can !

Just heard that Coles are donating all profits from Friday shopping to the Red Cross Fire Appeal...if you fancy shopping there this Friday...

As someone who has dealt with parcels donated to the troops can I suggest that anyone putting together items for the victims to avoid putting food in with anything containing soap...trust me it will taint and spoil the food after just a few hours.

The only food that the troops could use was the tinned stuff...everything else, no matter how well wrapped, was ruined and tasted of soap.

Sadly it's times like this when you see the human race in all it's true colours...as well as amazing acts of heroism, selflessness and generosity...you also get to see the scum of the earth...happened in New Orleans and no doubt after the tsunami too. Looters should get the same treatment as the arsonists imho for preying on the victims.

Does anyonew know where to drop clothes / soft toys at. Went to Salvo's on South Rd but no collection boxes ands had signs no dumping of goods. Does it have to be Salvo's? I don't want it going to profit organizations.

THERE are several ways you can help the victims of Australia's worst-ever bushfires.

This morning Victoria Police and the Red Cross have requested people wanting to donate should not use any numbers listed for emergency use only.

The Red Cross State Government Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund

To donate, visit www.redcross.org.au or phone 1800 811 700

Go to any NAB, ANZ, Westpac or Commonwealth Bank branch

Go to any Bunnings store

Make a direct deposit to the Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund

BSB 082-001, Account number 860-046-797

To donate blood at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, phone 13 14 95

Anyone concerned about family or friends in fire areas should call 1800 727 077

Police have confirmed that they believe the same man who lit the devastating Delburn Complex of fires around nearby Boolarra last month, destroying 29 houses and more than 6000ha, is the same person responsible for the Churchill blaze.

It's expected police will today release an image of a man sought for questioning over the fires.

Just finally got hold of my mate who lives just outside of Traralgon (sp) after 2 days, he said that they'd just caught the guy who lit the fires in Churchill, they said the cops found him masturbating whilst admiring his good work... :?

My sources say that no person has been arrested as yet, they have some persons of interest in their enquiries but it is a long long way off before anyone maybe charged in relation to these fires, maybe just some sort of freak or could be a POI this one Footy Chick. Police know they have to get all the right to put these scum away for a very very long time.
