My mum was absolutely hanging out for grand kids for years. last year mum and dad had an overseas holiday booked and paid for way in advance, they then found out that not only was my wife pregnant, but my broithers wife was too and of course they were both due while they were on a different continent .

to her credit Mum took it really well. she missed my niece's birth by hours. she was born while they were in Sydney, just the first leg of the trip. my little one was born about half way through the trip. there was champaign all round when they got the call

some of my favourite photos are of them, less than five minutes in the door after returning, with a little girl in each arm (they are both girls born 13 days apart) and of course they now spoil them rotten.

This baby is first grandchild, first nephew/niece on both sides - so probably going to be a bit spoilt I'd say

Yeah our little one was nearly the first on both sides (she was pipped by 13 days by my brothers daughter!!) so she gets treated very well by both sets of grandparents, we only ever have to ask once for a babysitter . good thing is a couple of months after our little one turned up the Mrs' brother had a little boy (obviously his partner did....) so Abigail has a cousin of similar age on both sides of the family. They are all just getting to a very fun stage too. they are all just starting to walk, and therefore getting into everything!

I don't think it's an emo thing GWW - everywhere we went in QLD people had them all shapes and sizes - and 2 x my daughters friends have just got them.

The guy where I got my tyres done today had big floppy holes in his ears where he must have had those ring things in. You could almost make a game out of it, you know, like the old Mayan ball game where you had to get the ball through a stone hoop? Except in this case it would be trying to throw a peanut through someone's flesh-ring-stretched earlobe.
