"If Port don't win today, they can kiss their finals aspirations goodbye".

Seriously, I think I heard that three weeks in a row.

(Mark Williams said AGAIN this week that it's dead, so to the media, stop saying it!)

Some that spring to mind from the media in particular:-

- Every time someone wins a five-set tennis match it is an 'Epic' battle.

- Referring to things as an Australian 'Icon'.

- Referring to the ACCC as the consumer 'watchdog'.

I'm very tired of people (teams, individuals etc) grinding out a win.

A grinder works in a yacht race. Everybody else just has a tough match, has to work hard, struggled on the day, overcame some poor form etc, but they didn't do any grinding. Stop with the grinding.

I like metaphors, until they get used 497 times. Then I'd like to hear some new ones.

They've become the flavour of the media at the moment, I'd say there would have been more than that in the past year. Then soon, the media will go back to shoddily run nursing homes or something like that.

I think all the journos go to the same creative writing classes and all trot out last week's basic literacy lesson each week.
