Unfortunately, because I pay for my tex return out of the return itself - my tax goes into the agents trust account who then cut me a cheque minus the fee.

The stimulus money is the same - they get my money into their account then cut me a cheque from them.

tax agents had 3 options to choose from when the stimulus package was announced. i know my agent told the ATO not to put any money into their trust account & send the clients cheques directly as they had more important things to do then write out 350+ cheques for clients.

Yes, $860. Damn tax agent charged me $40 to send it to me!

I am still waiting for mine, and am expecting it to come through the accountant. If he wants my business next year then he won't charge me forty clams without my permission.

I heard today that if you get the whole amount of tax back that you paid last financial year, you dont get the $900

So then, when people who are eligible DON'T get theirs by Saturday, what's a person to do? Just asking, because surely someone on this board will be one of the 'unlucky ones' whose $900 mysteriously doesn't arrive.

Are you sure you didn't sign something to say that this was OK? I don't think that your tax agent can legally do that unless you have signed an authority prior to them receiving the $900?

Yes, let the ATO know that you haven't received it (next week of course) , and if it got lost along the way, they will cancel that cheque and issue another one.

I thought I would be one of those that had to do so, until I got mine today.

That would be right, you had to pay tax in 07/08 to get it, my missus doesn't earn enough to pay tax but still has to put a tax return in so they don't hassle her for one, she doesn't get the $900.

Got mine today, think I'll just put it off the mortgage and it will save me $1,000's in interest by the time I pay the house off Not what they wanted us to do, but seems like the best thing for me ATM
