Only ever fly Singapore (and Malaysian up till their planes started falling out of the sky) and staying at the Veridian Resort perfectly located for me if that helps. I think the Veridian was very cheap as we upgraded to poolside deluxe rooms and I've seen them on Scoopon.
Were also going in the last fortnight of October as evwrything goes up there November 1 due to getting closer to the high season.
I went there once for one week in October and one in November and the week in November was heaps dearer.

We'll hve to catch up some time. This is about my 8th trip there and Ive done every sort of holiday there so should have some good advice for you.

Regulars there mate, once a fortnight, never disappoints. Although, Wednesday night is "Beachside Ukulele Club" night so the live music wasn't really to my liking.
