I don't normally have a lot of time for politicians, but Anna Bligh looks absolutely knackered. She really looks like she's taking it personally which is a good touch for a pollie.

Perversely, this could somehow be the thing that turns around her fortunes in the polls ... I don't think anyone could have taken on the responsibility more personally then she has the past few days.

Must agree Dedja, this sort of "humanity" is endearing to the public.

Have been thinking about that too today.
My facebook status for much of the day has reflected that as well.
This, for Bligh, could be the making of her.
Howard = Port Arthur and gun cotnrol.
Giuliani = 911
Sometimes a tragedy brings out the best in a leader in the eyes of the voters.
But...that is all for another time.

This is from a family friend in Brisbane
He is living in an apartment building on the 3rd floor
He has stocked up on food for a few days, and awaiting for the inevitability
On the ground floor is a restraunt, the expectation is that at about 4-00 Thursday Morning that the restraunt will be completely under water
He is hoping , but expecting that he will be safe on the 3rd floor
The floods will start at 3-00 in the morning, and is expected to wipe out parts of Brisbane

The greatest fear from our friend is that if the dam bursts it will be an absolute disaster

We are hoping to be able to talk to him TOMorrow

Good to see Kevin Rudd helping people carry suitcases and boxes for people who weren't able to do it themselves.

I was going there myself on Sat night!! I know they have shut up & sand-bagged. Not certain how much water they will get but that entire precinct has been closed for days

The floods are the greatest thing that could have happened to her (politically). The locals will be too stupid to recall her 3 years of mis-management prior to this and vote her in again on the basis of her "Flood Updates" on tv

Take nothing away from Anna Bligh up here. She is doing her best. But alot arent seeing the person that is doing better for us here in Brisbane and thats Lord Mayor Campbell Newman. He has done the most and he is taking it to heart alot more then Anna. I think anna looks tired yes but i think she has alot on her mind on what to do now? Possibly scared of what is to come. Lord Mayor Campbell Newman looks confident and composed more and he will bring this city back to its glory days more so then Anna Bligh.

Thanks Anna but more so Thank you Campbell Newman. You are truly helping us Brisbane people get out of this darkest hour.

And no i am staying home today but not for the flood reason but for my car needed a service so i took the day off but theres not much happening here at this stage.

this is the reason they are letting water out of wivenhoe to prevent it bursting. If the water starts coming over the top of the dam walls then im told the force from the water will break the walls. Hence the reason they are letting water out from the dam to prevent this. But yes if the dam goes we will be gone here.

Went to the local Coles today and all bread and a lot of fruit/veg and meat was gone.
Very little toilet paper left either.

People have definitely been panic buying and realistically supplies may take a while to replenish.

Things won't start to get back any sort of normality until next week.
