Take out the "oco" and rearrange the rest a bit, and you're spot on

Isn't that the rule?

At a zip lane, yes.

So if someones beside you, but a little bit in front, and they start indicating to change to your lane, you just continue to stay at the same speed and not let them over?

If it's just a lane change then the person doing the lane change is required to perform the maneuver in a manner that doesn't impact on any other road user, therefore if they put the indicator on and just expect you to slow down to get out of the way, they are in the wrong. Obviously there is some leeway here if it's slow moving bumper to bumper traffic. In this case you are in the wrong if you try to move in front of someone where you can't see their headlights in your rear view mirror. Then again, if the car in the lane next to you can't have the front of their car level with the rear of the car in front of you and be able to see your headlights, you're driving too close to the car ahead.

I'm talking about just normal traffic. No wankers involved. If someones beside me indicating, I will let off and let them in.

If they are beside you and indicate to get into your lane, then yes, there is a wanker involved.

If I see the indicator, I let them in. Doesn't bother me as the time saved from not doing so is next to nothing and keeps them out of my grill.

Exactly, as do I, as it makes no difference to you in the long run and is just courtesy. My posts were more about the people discussing what you are actually supposed to do in a lane changing situation. Let's face it, 80% of people on the road would fail a driving test if they were required to do one right now as the road rules do not really reflect what actually happens (usefully safely) on the roads

I make them slow down and get behind me. Pisses people off.

Common courtesy.

If you're in that much of a rush you can't let someone in, you should have left home earlier.

so the other party wanting to change lanes in front of you or next to you wanting to come over to your lane doesn't need to show courtesy then I take it and fall in behind one car? if they are in so much of a rush they should have left earlier also

Yeah, I wanna come over to your lane when I am level with you so YOU should slow down to let me in. great courtesy there also!!

I didnt say "level" I said their bumper is in front of you. And if someones far enough in front of you that you can see their side indicator flashing, you're probably in line with their back door anyway.

I don't think many people will stop to get tap measures out and measure the distance in front or behind.

I agree let someone in but both sides need to be courtesy , not just the driver in the lane that doesn't need to come across

And the driver in the right hand lane in these cases shouldn't be driving in that lane slower than the driver in the left hand lane anyway :D

"Sugar" is an apt nickname as the prick dissolved faster than a teaspoon full of sugar in a cup of hot water. Rocks up, collects his $1m and then fakes a back injury and calls it quits.
Lucky there were a couple of decent fights on the undercard

Recently I indicated while travelling next to another car, slowed down to 50 to let the other car get ahead, and then shifted lanes in behind him.

The other driver began making finger gestures, then changed lanes and let me pass so he could hurl a gobful of abuse at me through his open window.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to do the right thing!

At the end of the day, some people are just ****.

My philosophy is 'give respect and you'll get respect'. It doesn't always work, but it separates the douchebags from the dudes.

I agree. everyone should give respect when its deserved!

don't hog the right hand lane. if you want to drive 20kms under the limit stay to the left and abide by the law
if someone wants to come into you lane then let them , but also they need have a bit of respect

Our banking friends here may want to quash this - but what sort of stupid fricking financial institution doesn't carry coins?

Went to my bank yesterday, which I've been thinking of leaving anyway, mainly because they recently turned purple. I hate purple.

Anyhoo - went to the lady at the desk and asked to withdraw X amount of dollars to be split up into certain different denominations and reqeusted $20 in $2 and $10 in $1. (I'm having a garage sale)

"Sorry, we don't have that amount in coins" the lady said

WTF?
