The Woodville Hotel

We've been meaning to go there for ages, and finally got around to it last night.

I had the chicken schnitty with hollandaise sauce, while the Mrs had the Fish of the Day (grilled flathead on a risotto base with some tasty as f**k sauce).

We also got onion rings as a side to share.

She had a pint of Heiniken on tap (I got her an imperial to try to loosen her up a bit ;) ) and I got a Sailor Jerrys.

All up it came to $74, but unlike the establishment in my previous review, this meal warranted the price.

My schnitty as large and very well cooked. The chips were awesome and the salad was sort of crunchy and delicious.

The onion rings were in different sort of batter that I've never had before, lightly seasoned and came with some nice aioli.

The Mrs's's's fish was amazing. The sauce and risotto combination was well done.

My Sailor Jerrys was well made, and the Heiniken loosened the Mrs up enough to have conversations about the waitresses boobs without getting in trouble.

We ended up not wanting to leave after the meal, so we hit up the pokies and I won $30 and the Mrs lost $30. The gaming room has (get this) FREE toasted sandwiches, free coffee, free nuts, free biscuits, free Coke and free Slushies. I utilised the coffee and nuts.

We put a spot 10 on the Keno each and retired to The Yard (outdoor area with massive screen hanging from the roof) and caught the end of the Manly/Sth Sydney game over another drink each.

Checked our Keno results on the way out (Mrs was a $4 winner) and headed home.

Service - 10/10 - Very attentive, and the meals came out quickly.
Food - 10/10 - Haven't had better in a long long time.
Ambiance - 8/10 - Good table, but a bit close to the bar/cash register. There was a nice rack to look at though.
Accessibility - 10/10 - Ample parking, and only 5-10 minute drive from home.
Price - 8/10 - Bit pricey, especially if I went the Stone Grill option (any red meat is $30+), but what we ordered was well priced.

Verdict - 9.2/10

Haven't been to many pubs this good. The price is the only thing making this a "sometimes" place, because I wouldn't want to have to get the schnitty every time.

PS - The imperial pints wore off by time we got home. :(

Been to the Woody quite a lot since it's been upgraded, probably had 6-10 meals there and not a bad one among them. Tasting plates are good, Shnitz are excellent, and even their burgers are top notch. Huge fan.

We went to the Woody again with a voucher a lady at work gave me.

With my newfound "free second meal" I decided to treat myself and got the stone grill steak and lobster.

F**k me, that was the best meal I've had in years. $39 on special, and the Mrs's's's meal was free, so about $60 all up with drinks and a side to share.

Prince of Wales : It went to shit for a while, I think they have a new cook and some renewed staff who go out of their way to make sure "Is everything ok?", even in the middle of your meals. Good service.

$10 schnitty's every night with the salad/veg bar included. In all, it's a $10 schnitty so it is what is is, the chicken ones nice and thick and the beef ones hanging off the plate. The veggie bar I'd pay $10 for on it's own, usually about 4-5 hot dishes and 4-5 salads with endless bread rolls.

You'd be hard pressed to get a better feed for $10 in the Port area.

Yeah mate, good value. I reakon if they said it was $15 with the salad/veggie bar I'd still say good value for money.

I like my roast pumpkin, potato bake and peas and beans so I crack into them when I'm there.

Went shortly after it opened and was very underwhelmed by it. Service was good but not great and meal was ok but I want more than ok for the price there.
Need to go there again and see if it's improved
