Thanks guys...probably should have mentioned I'd be unlikely to be going out at night...usually try to find a place with a decent 'in house' bar so I don't have to. Not much into clubbing these days and after a day site seeing on foot I usually just want somewhere close by to grab a couple of beers before crashing for the night.

Anyway don't want to take this thread off topic too much so watch this space...will probably start a thread for my expedition nearer the time  The fund is only about a third full so a while to go yet

Regards
JAS

Hmmmm that's quite a few off the 'potential' list :( Anywhere else in the city that I should actively avoid ????

Definately not, JTC stayed there and didn't have an issue, if you're out late, probably a good thing or if you're hungry at any time of day always something around to get to eat, right in the heart of Adelaide too.
Ive been getting drunk and going out there for 20 years and haven't had one issue.
I'm sure JTC would back me up too, we met him in his hotel lobby on Hindley St and managed to make it across the road to a Thai restaurant without getting stabbed. ;)

Thanks again guys :D

FC, I've definitely got raising a glass or two with the forumites at the top of the itinerary...alongside seeing at least two Legs games :D

Cheers Wedgie...was hoping it wasn't quite as bad as it was starting to sound as most of the other places I want to see are located on or around North Terrace. I've done a bit of independant travel before and have a terrible habit of trying to plan for every eventuality so like to think I use a fair bit of common sense but as with any city there will always be places you just shouldn't go

Like I said it's still a fair way off (couple of years  ) but will almost certainly be badgering you guys with questions as the list making progresses...don't knock it...the only disasterous trips were the package type that I had no control over
