So what is now the little par 3 golf course is where the PAFC was born? Maybe they could have a members golf day there!!

As far as I can work out, the par 3 course is on or near the grounds of the former estate, but the estate is no longer there and info on its exact location is hard to find.

North Norwood was a private sub division in Trinity Gardens.
Rugby was a private sub division in Payneham
Murray Park was a private sub division in Murray Bridge.
Koongarra Park was a private sub division in Unley.

I'm not exactly sure what "private sub division" means in relation to a suburb.....

Beat me to it. I would say it's the only reason we are called the Chics.

I was lead to believe that Koongarra was a small suburb that was situated around where Norwood Morialta middle school is on St Bernards Road and ran up to Glen Suart Road.

Hence why there is a Koonga Ave and a Koongarra Avenue there. Its now part of Magill.

I believe that at one time anyone who cut up a piece of land into houseblocks and create a suburb could give it a name like "Psyber Park" or whatever.

I do remember that the introduction of Post Codes resulted in heavy lobbying from Australia Post to reduce the number of suburban names, and hence Post Codes, including arbritarily telling people their suburb no longer existed and was part of some larger area, without any legal grounds to do so. [Despite the protests they eventually got their way to a large extent with government backing.]

At the time this was going on I wasn't very interested, but my older sister, who was in Real Estate by then, was.

Interesting concept though Psyberia.

It may have happened everywhere at some time in the place's history, but the bureaucracy, as it grows, eventually stamps out such freedoms everywhere!

The Kilburn footy club is still known as the "chics" which comes from the old Chicago name. I think you'll find Al Capone's reputation and association with Chicago caused the change of name.
