Only way to to get the economy going is

1, abolish income tax for any one earning less than $100,000 PA, permanently or say for a couple of years
2, abolish all stamp duties especially housing this will encourage building who wants to pay $30,000 stamp duty on an average house
3, get rid of all levies, emergency services, murray river, etc etc etc etc
4, get rid of GST on utilities ie water ,electricity, rego, telcos etc etc etc
5, get rid of pokies,
6, get rid of politicians

Rudd will bankrupt this country

Quite simple i reckon, and make Apachebulldog President of Australia.

1. How do we pay for Highways, Hospitals, etc?
2. This is a state tax
3. And have no emergency services or water?
4. Agree with that
5. Agree with that
6. Impossible

Not a huge fan of Rudd but lets be realistic.
He is still better than Rann!

Ashman where do ya think the 60 billion dollars came from !!! the libs accumalted it over 11 years with the 10% GST did they spend any of it on roads, hospitals, education , river murray etc etc of course not.

Rudd is just another typical politician great with all the rhetoric but nothing gets done.

Abolish income tax for the average wage earner if you want the economy to pick up quite easy i reckon.

However should there be a shortfall of revenue, up the GST maybe somewhere between 10 t0 15 % but not on utility and services .

I think it is really easy but most politicians today have not got the balls or the fore sight to make appropriate decisions its the same old blah, blah blah from most of them promise the world at voting time, but deliver nothing when they come into power.

Over the last 38 years since i have been voting i have heard all the lies from all political parties LIES LIES AND MORE DAMN LIES.

I agree job security would be a big help to consumer confidence.
You are not going to spend or take on debt if there is a change of losing your job and then everything else.
Perhaps the government should look at the small business lobby's arguments, but they tend to ignore them and either look to government employment or big business subsidies, despite there being more jobs in small business.

It may be because one big business pay off in jobs retained looks better in the press..

*Bump*

Anyone else starting to get some money into their account???

We seem to have got it all this week rather than $900 now (school aged kid eligible for tax benefit A) and $1800 in April (both her indoors and I earn less than $80 000).

Not game to touch it all now in case there has been an overpayment.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Dont ever put "stimulate" and "Thai" in the same sentence....

I just checked mate and if youre eligible for FTB Part A you also get $950 per eligible child on top of the $900, its called Back to School bonus.
If you have 2 kids you might still be up for another $1800 next month after receiving $2800 this month!
Im going to abuse the missus tonight for earning so much!

Mate I rang them a month a go to clarify what we are getting. The youngest is school aged (4) but not at school they said I wouldn't get anything for her as they said they have factored in the different school starting ages around the country so only those kids actually at school would get the beneft. Hence why I thought I'd only get one lot of $950.

We get tax benefit B but to avoid an over payment because the missus earns close to the cut off we say give us tax benefit B payments at the end of the year. As we do that, the Centrelink bird said we should get the $900 were are "entitled" to as tax benefit B recipents once we have reconciled our 2008-09 tax returns.

So i thought I'd only get $950 in March, $1800 in April and then $950 in August looks like we have got $1850 more now. Being the connservative bugger I'll hold off to make sure we haven't go an over payment until Its confirmed that is what we are actually entitled to now.

I'm off to "bump" the Centrelink thread - gee they are hard to contact....

BTW still doesn't make we want to vote for Rudd/Rishworth. Odds on I'll be paying this back with increased taxes once the budget blows out and the removal of the 30% co-contribution toward our private health insurance. Glenn Stevens was making noises two weeks ago that it is a bad policy. Wait for troglodytes in the ALP left to jump on this and make joe public pay more for their health coverage.

Tassie you were told wrong according to Centrelink's own websit.
'If you were eligible for Family Tax Benefit Part A on 3 February 2009, and had a child aged 4 to 18 (inclusive), you will receive the Back to School Bonus.'

There is no mention of kids actually being eligible to attend school or not.

I even asked how will you know hat they are actually at school????

Ah well given the extra money we've received today I'm off the Bay Bar and Bistro Pokies to see if I can double it....
