Distribution is happening by postcode, in random order. At least that's what I heard on the news last week. This was supposed to ease the burden on the postal system.

I've heard its being paid according to people's post codes, so if your post code is a high number unfortunately you may have to wait a little longer.

This is what I heard too. However out postcode is 5093,got the cash on Tuesday (4 people use our postal address with 3 different surnames so don't think it is alphabetical either). People we know in the next suburb haven't got it yet,postcode 5096.

Got mine Wednesday. Surname starts with F , postcode 5046. I did tax return on 1st July.

Found this for those who were wondering on how they are distributing the funds

Payments will go out progressively over six weeks from early April to the 7.4 million eligible people who have already lodged last year’s tax return. Cheque and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) postings will be distributed each business night until the initial run of 7.4 million has been completed.

All cheque and EFT payments will be made using a post code selection process that is randomly generated, ensuring all post codes are evenly distributed to each state and territory each night (using the Australia Post predetermined percentage spread). For this reason and because of security concerns, we are not planning to publish a distribution schedule.

You will receive a cheque which when deposited into your account you can draw on straight away, as opposed to the normal 4 or 5 working day clearance.

You'll get a letter a day or two after it is transferred into your account.

No notification beforehand.
