I can't stomach red sauces anymore (bolognese, putenesca etc) all because I bought some home made tomato sauce of an italina bloke I knew and got food poisoning severe for three days later... so now just creamy pastas for me!

I don't get on with uncooked tomatoes - literally get nauseous.
Once they are pulped and cooked into sauces and soups however I tolerate them fine and enjoy them.
I assume it is something in the skin or seeds that is broken down by the cooking.

I'm with you on that one Psyber, hate uncooked tomatoes, especially chunky cuts in salad. Can handle a couple of slices in a sandwich, but that's about it.

Another pet hate of mine is pineapple on savory food (ie pizza, hamburger). I'll eat pineapple by itself no problem though, especially if it's fresh.

Wont touch Oysters which sucks as my inlaws own an oyster farm and if I liked them I could take as many as I like. Probably a good thing for them though.

Never drink Beam again. Spewed on it real bad when I was younger and can't seem to get over it.

I also have a hard time eating fish after choking on a bone when I was about 5.

I can eat it, but I can't enjoy it because I pick it to bits.

My preference of course is to just eat butterfish or flake

Other things I can't/won't touch-

Fennel - refer to the earlier licorice explanation
Licorice - refer to the earlier licorice explanation
Lemongrass - don't know, just can't handle it.
Bundy - Smells and tastes like fly spray.
Sweet Chilli - makes me go red, so some sort of allergy I guess..
Any other chilli - Im not a spicy person, therefore that also counts out curries - don't worry Boon, you're not alone
Red wine - It's not that I can't drink it but I get very ANGRY when I do, so stay away from it for the safety of those around me

A couple of years ago went to a hotel for my birthday lunch and ordered the fish,
Unfortunately when I went to eat it I recieved a mouthful of scales and bones
Put me off my lunch for sure and certain.

When they girl came over and said "Did you enjoy your meal" and we said "No" and showed her the fish still having scales etc on it - it was just like, oh, i'll tell the chef".... (No offer of refund, replacement, nothing...)

Then she said "Would you like to order desert"
My husand says "I don't think so"

And we got up and left, never been back there since

Mum I am the same with Southern Comfort

It was one of the drinks of choice to get drunk while at high school and I have such bad memories of being sick off that horrible stuff that I would never touch it again

It would be so much easier to be a teenager today with all the alco-pops!

I swear everyone has a Southern Comfort story - "yep, drank it till I had a big night when I was 16/18/21 and never touched the stuff again".

Bundaberg Rum is another one notorious for that.

I went off my old man's home brew for several years, had a massive night on it whilst camping and was not well the next day. Try packing up a campsite on a 30+ degree day in the Mallee when you can't even keep water down.

I got a bottle for my 18th birthday, just after I finished school. That bottle ended up being downed in Paralowie at NYE that month.
I was off my face and can barely remember anything that happened on the night - except I remember escorting my cousin home. She left the party cos she was pissed off at me.
The next day was a nightmare. I could barely hold my stomach together as my father in law drove me and my Mrs DW home.
Never been able to drink it since.

Took me a while to drink port again too after a big night on it when I was 19.
Two mates and I consumed a carton of beer. They were finished but I had to push it a bit further and drank a two litre bottle of very cheap port.
All I remember from that night was crawling out of family room, across the decking and spewing into my swimming pool.
Was working at Fasta Pasta at the time and when I went to work the next night, still couldn't hold anything down. Awful.
Only just started drinking port again in the past year.
