Lived on the flat in the southern suburbs around Marion area all my life.
5 minutes from the beach
Less than 5 minutes from Marion shops
15-20 minutes from the city (if i really have to go there)
20 minutes to the hills
less than hour to Victor
Public transport is BRILLIANT from anywhere in the area
All my friends and family are in the area so close to all of them

Littlehampton, nice and quiet yet still close to the city if we need it, only 20 mins from our place to the bottom of the freeway
a little bit cooler in the summer but cold in the winter although nothing that a nice wood fire and stout or porter wont fix ;)
everything we need in Mt Barker although it is becoming a busy place........

No less than 9 take-away shops within a 5 minute walk 8) and a shopping centre.

Also walking distance to Linear Park and the bike/walking track

about 10 buses that can take me into town if I choose to do so (including a bus stop at my doorstep)

15 mins from town.

Walking distance from 2 pokies venues - the NorEast and the Highlander ;)

Police station at the end of the street, so it's nice and safe :D

It's a salesmans dream!

The fact that I can buy a house in a large growth area for under 300k. In ten years it will be worth a lot more than that. Thank you very much.

Very similar Booney .Although my 3 bedroom house is a little worn around the edges .and should be fully ours in 4 or 5 years .
Very large block between the Port river (the new marina is almost my backyard)and the beach.
12 minute Drive to my work at hendon .Fantastic when others live far out north or down south .
Port shopping area is about 5 or so minutes by car .
Semaphore is not that much further.
Favourite fishing spot West lakes is a 10 minute drive .

And we seem to either miss or get the bad weather first.and the bad weather builds up after it passes by .

Have lived in Para Hills (yep), Firle (very good) West Croydon (pretty good) and Ascot Park for a short time (good) but fluked a place in Mitcham a couple of year ago when we were in a position to finally take that step and buy into an area we really wanted to settle in. The street still has many of the classic old bluestone and sandstone houses in good nick with decent gardens which most people maintain well. Luckily unlike parts of Unley etc the developers have left this part largely untouched which is a bonus. Very uncluttered feel to it, never get sick of walking around and looking at the different houses and nothing is very far away. But as the older residents move on some subdivision may take place but i'm hoping most of the character is maintained. No downside to living here, apart from the teenage boozers who stumble out of The Edinburgh pub and sometimes break a bottle or two on their travels.

Live in Walkerville,

Close to the City and The Parade
Very close to my watering hole, the Sussex
a 10 minute brisk walk to the hallow turf of Prospect Oval
a huge park right opposite our place so the kids can get over there and have fun
Great neighbours and about to get new ones who I think already are awesome
and relatively quiet
Life is about moments, Create them

Happy Valley.

10 minutes from Marion shops, good community with local shops 5 minutes walk away. 20 min drive to McLaren Vale/Willunga areas....nice to get away down there for breakfast with a coffee. Check out the great wines. Get away from the madness of the city...
Beach 10 minute drive.
Nice to wake up in the morning with the sound of birds singing...lots of wildlife....
Not too far South of the city..about 25 min drive on a good day.
Crime rate low here. Feel safe. Friendly neighbourhood.
Parks, creeks at the doorstep which is great for kids and walking the dog. :D
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Not many Crows or Port supporters in these parts.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Sheidow Park

15 mins to the hallowed turf of Glenelg Oval or Gliderol Stadium at Glenelg for the sake of the Sponsors ;)
< 5 mins to new Shopping Centre at Hallet Cove
10 mins to Marion or Colonades for the missus to partake in retail therapy
Sea breazes off the gulf guranteed virtually every day, nice and cool but a bastard when I'm riding home up that F***in Hill
Nice hour bike ride to and from work (Parkside) - guaranteed to burn at least 750 KCals either way with a average HR of ~ 80% MHR.
< 5 min walk to kids school.
Good kid friendly area with families about, thanks to one of the members on here missus, a great park up the road from our place (she was on the planning committee for the playground when Marion Council was developing it)

Only negative is a decrease in public transport services (no more 680 or 681 buses) in the last six months
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

5 minutes to city
5 minutes to beach
10-15 minutes to work
When there is a heat wave it's normally 1 - 2 deg cooler
Good schools
Every SANFL ground except Elizabeth & Nourlunga within 20 minutes (4 are within 10 minutes), Nourlunga within 30 minutes, Elizabeth not much longer
15 minutes to Marion, West Lakes shopping centres
When my mate flys home to Mackay it's a 10 minute walk each way to the free beers at the Qantas club
Torrens linear park less than 5 minutes away
My house value has gone up 5X in the 11 years since we bought (that does have it's down fall as well, higher council, water & sewrage rates)

great thread!

live in trott park, bought our house of Super Carey's Brother in Law

anyway, pretty similar to AM bays description, but on a good day i can make it down to the bay in 10 mins,

mum lives at hallett cove which will be a good thing when we have kids.

we live in a culdasac (spell check), very quiet street, although as it parallel to the Southern Expressway & South Road, you can hear cars from time to time.

got a nice little park at the top of the street to take our dogs when we eventually get them. funny thing though - not sure if its the same with everyone here, but we do not know our neighbours. growing up we all knew them, maybe times have changed!

another bonus, some of my closest friends live close by, with another one moving in soon!
