+1

I feel like I was runover by a truck. For all I know, I could have been.

Tomorrow should be a PH too.

It isnt our states big race - would be probably the 5th-6th biggest race each year, just look at the Group 1's this weekend

If we are basing PH's on crowd attendence we will be having them for Big Day Out's soon....

I would favor moving the Adelaide Cup Day Holiday to the Friday of the Clipsal. Clearly more people would make the use of the public holiday for the Clipsal than to go to Morphettville. The point of the public holiday being for encouraging people to spend their money as opposed to simply supplying a free day off for everyone. If it was a public holiday on the Friday then likely Clipsals attendances would see a significant increase in patronage which results in more $$$ being spent into the local economy. Besides which many employers lose time on the Clipsal friday with sick days - annual leave days and so on, almalgamating it with the Adelaide Cup day could work and if they are so keen they could always screen the Adelaide Cup at the Clipsal and take bets there if its so important and probably get a larger group of people interested anyway!

Well there are 4 Group 1's in Adelaide and the Adelaide Cup is a Group 2 race - make that what you will.

Mal asks a fair question though, will the car race be here in 10, 20, 50 years time? The Adelaide Cup will be..

Judging by the V8's popularity, it'll be here until oil runs out, at which time there will be an electric vehicle replcement that'll get everone in.

By all accounts, the Clipsal 500 is the best attended single sport event in the souther hemisphere.

The greenies will probably put paid to both of them one day :)
I don't neccessarliy say that Clipsal should get a Public Holiday, but saw more merit in it than the Adelaide Cup. Maybe we could have that Public Holiday for something else & don't get me started on the Queens Birthday Holiday either...not even celebrated on her birthday.
Can you tell I am an employer ??

I voted yes. I'd like the Clipsal to have a holiday.
