I had a Foxtel guy come around the other week. He wouldnt give up, even tho i was politely saying no...

I had music on so when i said no the first time he said "do you like music? Theres lots of music channels on foxtel"

then i said im never home to watch tv and he just said "when you are home, what do you watch?"

i told him again that im never home and he said what are you doing...so i said football...big mistake..."did you know theres yadda yadda sports channels on foxtel"....

I told him i had to go out, so he asked if he could come back some other time, but wouldnt take no for an answer so i said sure...

me and my brother live together, so when someone knocked on the door the next day i told him to get it, knowing it would be the foxtel guy...after about 10 seconds my brother told him to F Off and we never saw him again :D

As a kid growing up in the sticks I can remeber my old man forever trying to get rid of them (JW's), one day after less than politely telling them where they could stick their beliefs they walked around the block, came in our back gate and bailed up me, my brother and our mum, I gave them the same serve as my dad (to my mum's embarasment), the old man heard came around the back and realy let fly.

About a week or so later he went to give blood, came home with 2 "give blood" stickers, 1 for the front door and the other for the back.
We often saw them walk up the front path but they never knocked on the door again.

here goes I had some mormons doing the rounds in the street i was living in so before they knocked on my door i put on a blue movie. I invited them in and was talking to them. Being a nice host I offered to get them a drink. Whilst getting up i pressed play on the VCR and the movie came on. They were out the door before I got back leaving the book of mormon and a note saying i need to read it. We saw the mormons in the street but they never seemed to knock on our door again.
And on foxtel tell them you have it and if they say your not on the list tell them how do you know if i am paying for it that freaks them out all the time.

seems to be the sales technique of Foxtel. Had a similar spiel given to me around 12 months ago, some how he dragged sports out of me and off he went. After finishing and expecting me to say what the hell why not I let him know I had just purchased a set top box for Digital and was satisfied with what One HD had to offer for free. Bid Good evening to the bloke and gently shut the door in his face.

I have to admit I've been very lucky that in the (nearly) 10 months I've been at my current home, I've only had 2 doorknockers - one was a local doing some fundraising (they're alright, they know what no means at least), the second was a Telstra salesperson who got shut down in 10 seconds when I advised I have no landline (although Telstra did fraudulently set up phone/internet up for me when I moved in, but that's another story).
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Fortunately, I now have a 60 metre long curving driveway that rises about 8 metres over its length, and you can't tell from the road that there is a parking bay up near the house.
So, only the intrepid knock on my door - but that didn't deter the JWs I mentioned above.
However, my proselytising back at them about the Joys of Zoroastrianism and how much of Christianity has been pinched from it seems to have fixed them.
[I must look for the "Do not enter here on pain of Crisis of Faith" sign they have presumably put up.]

My grandfather often told the story of some JW's that knocked twice at the front door, persistent in their manner to the point where my grandfather threatened to grab his gun (a slug gun that didn't shoot straight, but they didn't know that). After leaving, turned up 10 minutes later at the back door to be chased away by my grandfather, with aforementioned gun! Never saw them again!

In Melbourne I used to get people knocking on the door occasionally trying to change me over to the gas or electricity company who sent them.
There were cases reported where once they got people's details off accounts they were shown, allegedly to see if they could better the rates, the home owners found they had been transferred over without being asked - the company line was they had agreed and then supplied their details to facilitate the changeover.

Here in SA, the only caller I've had apart from the JWs mentioned above was an Indian guy canvassing for Optus, claiming they could better my phone and Internet deal - which they couldn't, in fact, except by chucking in extra downloads and phone calls I'd never use since I don't use all I have included now, for about $15 a month more money.

Unfortunately having these sales guys at our door is because of the register that prevents them calling. We've installed a video camera intercom so we can tell them to pi$$ off or just not answer the door.

A mate of mine does this work for the government, pretty sure they do some sort of shower heads as well as the light bulbs, but all of the property's he goes to install them at have been booked in through a call center, he doesn't just show up to a random house and offer the service, the people are fully aware he is coming and what its all about.
However he is a contractor, and is paid per job, so perhaps this bloke had a booking with one of your neighbors and they weren't home so he decided he would just try it on with the house next door to see if he can still get paid for a job.

Next time someone comes to the door I'm just going to answer it while riding a broom and roaring like a monster. That ought to shut them up. ;)
