Went all silver spoon yesterday, The Earl of Leicester, Parkside.

Had a get together for a mates birthday and watched the footy on the screen(s) in the front bar.

Bar snacks -

Wedges - skin on, spicy, chunky, excellent.
Trio of dips - is what it is.
Chicken wings - BBQ sauce, real good.

I went for the small wagyu beef schnitzel (350g) saw the size of the large (650g) and didn't think I'd get through it after a few bar snacks, had the "Grexit" topping ( mushroom olive, fetta, rocket, napoli and mozzarella ) - $25 ( large are $23.50+toppings around $30 )

In a word, outstanding. Typically the old beef schnitty is the paper between the crumb, not here, the crumb was wafer thin, the wagyu beef schnitty about 10-12mm thick, almost needed a steak knife to get through it. Topping was thick, I mean thick and I didn't get through it! Left a piece about the size of a 1/4 of a sandwich on the plate. No salad ( salad bar in the bistro is included ) but didn't need it, the chips came out in a small bowl on the side. Nice.

The place also has a "Beer drinking Legends Club". They have 85, yes 85 beers to work your way through, 20, 40 and 80th beers are free and at the end for $35 you get a t-shirt, certificate and your name on the honor board.

First time I'd ever been there, the place was just busy enough to have some atmosphere without being crowded, the meals were ordered at 1/4 time of the footy and they said we'll bring them out at half time, that's exactly when they arrived.

Service - above average
Food - above average
Price - above average ( but hey, where it is! )

Over all - On the pricey side, I don't drive a Range Rover though, 8.5/10
PAFC. Forever.

The best pub in Adelaide. 6 beers left on the list for me.

Ribs are amazing there too, as well as the schnitzels.

Serafinos McLaren Vale

Went with the Bride on Fri for lunch

Place was empty - never a good sign

I had the beef cheeks ($36) , the Missus the steak ($38) - asked for medium. Ordered two sides broccholi and spuds ($10 each)

After 30 min, at least, our meals came - wasn't like they had other orders queueing up.

Mine was good and flavoursome - but I'm not a fussy eater. Her indoors steak came well/over done (certainly not medium). She wasn't impressed

The 2009 Sharkbait Shiraz was nice ($60)

$154 all up down to 116 with a Ent Book voucher.

Won't be back 5/10.

Went to there cellar doors and tried some of their wines. Nothing much there either save for a Pino Gris that the bride didn't mind so brought it as you can't not try without at least buying something.

Day out was redeemed by a stop off at Hardys Tintara on teh main St of Mclaren Vale. couple of nice red and wites tried and walked out with a few good bottles to sample later.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I know I've done reviews for this place before, but they have a different Chef and Menu now, and well, I just love this joint.

The Brompton Hotel

Entree's: Some Atlantic Salmon thing that is perhaps the tastiest thing I've ever tried (via the specials of the day) and Arrowhead Squid crumbed, and accompanied by basically a Chili Mayo (they would have worded it better than that), which was brilliant. Should point out their entree's are closer to appetizer's in size.

Main Course: Again off the specials I went the 300gm Scotch Fillet, with potatoes, a Tomato Relish and seeded Mustard. Cooked well (could perhaps have been slightly rarer), tasted divine. Missus had the Pork Loin and it was just as good, if not better than the steak.

Girls who served us were friendly, fantastic and accommodating, and we didn't have to wait long at all for meals and drinks throughout our time there.

3 glasses of wine + a bottle of sparkling water added to the above and it was $135 down to $100 with the Ent Voucher.

This place has never let us down, and I'd easily give it another 9/10 for this latest effort.

I took the Mrs to Jacobs Creek winery for lunch on Saturday for our first anniversary.

I found a good Scoopon deal coz Im a bit cheap, but it was actually pretty amazing for what I paid.

If you book with the Scoopon, they prepare your table with a special menu that lists what you can order. There are two choices of starters, and about ten choices for mains. All really good dishes.

We got a share plate for starters, which included three different kinds of meat, a hot beef and pesto skewer each, with some jams and other goodies, and some nice bread. Nearly filled up on just that.

Then came the mains. Mrs HH3 got the pork belly salad, which I had a bit of. Cooked to perfection, and they didn't skimp on the pork.
I got the steak. It was a bit overcooked for medium rare, but still juicy. It was topped with some sort of herby things I'd never had before (in that form anyway) and served on top of some seasoned roast potatoes.

We both were offered a complimentary glass of wine each, which was pretty funny, because Mrs HH3 was hungover from drinking too much wine the night before on a night out with a girlfriend, and opted for a juice, and I don't drink wine, so wasn't sure what to order. The waitress looked at both of us like "what the f**k are you doing at a winery if you don't drink wine". I ended up going with a heavy red Shiraz that apparently would go well with my steak.

I got a bowl of chips and aioli for an extra $8 as well.

It did take a fair while to get our meals considering the place wasn't too busy, but there were nice views, and the company was alright.

Got a takeaway coffee each on the way out.

Scoopon - $49
Chips & coffees - $17
Happy Mrs HH3 - Priceless

I'd go back with the Scoopon. Don't know how pricey their normal menu is.

Sounds great. I reckon you should be able to claim any expenses incurred as "R&D" on behalf of the site. Sure the mods will pick up the bill... :D
