it smacks of inequality doesnt it...

i think initially the different rules for indigenous kids was brought in to encourage the parents to put them in education, also because of the transient nature, a lot of indigenous families moved regularly which made it difficult for the children because they missed out on the necessary education and this meant that they had more time to instill some basic principals into the indigenous children. I think another factor is the socialisation, giving the indigenous kids the opportunity to have positive social interraction is paramount in them breaking the cycle of alcoholism, drug dependency and career unemployment.

it is all such a perpetual cycle though and i dont think we'll ever have an answer that everyone will subscribe to.

due to my heritage my kids are indigenous and we have the ability to put our kids into kindy at 3 instead of 4. My kids are more south american than they are aboriginal as Mrs NG is Uruguayan, but if the option is there i'm gonna take it. luckily for me lil miss nugget is pretty clever and fits right in with the older kids, NG Jnr is only 10 months so jury's out on his intellect, i just hope he takes after the missus too!

The other silly part about this is the single admission for schools now. i think the deadline is like May 31 so if your kids are born prior to that they can be enrolled that year, if not then they have to wait until the next year... Surely they can manage 2 intakes a year and if the kids in the second half dont quite adapt to schooling by the end of the year can stay in reception and those that take off and grasp everything in that second half can scoot through to year 1...

Thanks for sharing that, interesting story. Sometimes what seems like inequality had a good reason behind it.

Probably harder to do but it would seem admitting kids on their age rather than whether they are ready for it seems like the wrong thing to do too

People can be so cruel.

Just had a lady knock on the door, a cat got hit by a car out the front of our house, and drove off. Wasn't ours but we went out to have a look. Poor little thing was alive but in a horrible way. Door knocked a couple of houses and then took it down the vet to get put down.

Hope the dickhead who ran it over's 20 seconds of time that he saved speeding down my residential street is worth the life of some little girl or old lady's companion.

Accidents happen, but then not to stop...

Yep I saw the same thing happen to my friends dog one night.

The bastards drove over to the other side of the road to hit it. The owners were also outside so it wasn't like the dog was roaming alone and they were lucky not to be hit as well

Unfortunately it was not only so dark but happened so quick it really was a case of blink and miss

This Clavell bloke being on the streets. FFS if you did something bad enough to be shot by a police sniper, you should locked up and the key thrown away!

Not if sniper doesnt want to be charged with a crime himself. Im hearing people blame the police for him being out, but im sure they dont wanna be chasing the same guy every couple of years.

blame the courts system then. surely there has to come a time when protection of the community at large outweighs an individuals "rehabilitation". surely this guy has had more than his fair share of chances. lock him up and throw away the key... when they finally catch up with him again

Isn't this the point of giving longer sentences?

Seems to me the parole system is probably where there are issues.

Cant get parole till the minimum sentence has been met. Make this guys minimum 50 years. See how much damage he can do then

Fair chance it could even be increased during the appeal.
