My accountant sent me tax return by email, i looked it over, was happy with it so i went in to sign a hard copy, looked over it, all good, the same as email copy i had.
Meant to get $1170 back less their fee of $160
Today they drop $20 into my account.
I call up to find out what happened, the girl on the phone said it looks like they cancelled the original return and submitted another one.
Am waiting to hear from my accountant on exactly what has happened but im fuming. They have lodged a return without my approval and or without my signature or they have forged my signature. Im sure this would have to be illegal.
Where would i go to from here? Who do i make a complaint to if this isnt satisfactorily sorted out by the accounting firm.
I imagine you cant lodge another revised tax return? And if you do the tax department is likely to go over it with a fine tooth comb.
Ill obviously be seeking a new accounting firm, have been with this one for probably 20 years but only this particular accountant for maybe 3 or 4 years
