We need some new developments out in the north desperately.
A statistician at yesterday's meeting to discuss the Holden closure reported that unemployment in the Elizabeth area is 32%.
That's just scary. Housing developments continue to pop up, which is a start but where are the jobs when that finishes? Where are the jobs for those that are meant to live in those houses?
This is going to be a massive problem in very short time.

Without being a smartarse, I'm concerned at what it's going to do to the crime rate in the northern suburbs once the jobs do go.

So many people have been so used to of the healthy pay packet that a Holden's income does provide, there simply wont be enough jobs in the state for 75% of them to find immediate employment.

Its not like we could use that money for health or education. I mean its not like we are closing hospitals and our public schools are a disgrace. I think this motor sport par tis really need to ensure that motor and sport can come together at the park in Tailem.

It's a very good point about the crime rates in Elizabeth once Holden packs up. Lived in Perth for 3 years and loved it but the theft, robbery and other crimes that come with that are ridicously out of control due to the mining $!

The crime rate in Elizabeth will grow but the surrounding suburbs with a little bit of coin in Mawson lakes and Golden Grove will go through the roof.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Until about a month ago, I hadn't been up that stretch of South Road in a couple of years - I'd forgotten how bad it is. Had to drive through it six times recently and it was the WORST. Can't believe it hasn't been fixed before now. Traffic banked up for miles no matter what time of day it is.

Does anyone remember the MATS Plan?

It would've been expensive, but it would have been well worth it, even if only 2/3 of it was put in place.
