wasn't bad.

beards are awesome and people who shave are just jealous they cant grow a beard

Beards are stinky and unhygienic, captures food scraps and the hairs above your lip soak in your beer.

Each to their own but no thanks from me, I'd prefer to shave each morning and then again if I'm going out in the evening.

Thin and come undone constantly, then snap after a few weeks?

If the shoes weren't so comfortable I'd ask our purchasing officer for a different supplier.

Mrs HH3 is the CSO for a safety company. Send me a PM if you want to pursue something else.

Julius Marlow's soles wear out well before their time.

I'll run it by our PO Officer but she's not one that likes change, with over 150 employees here that get an annual allocation of 5 sets of all clothing and a set of safety shoe/boots it's a pretty nice contract.

SB scuff easily, I guess they all find their ways to wear so we need them again.

You might already go through them. But always good to look around.

Yup

used to buy a pair of JMs, or Slatters or whatever at DJs/Myers once a year. expecting to pay depending on sales $80-100.

Two years ago bit the bullet and brought a pair of RM Williams boots.

Managed to get two pairs for $500 at there outlet store at H/Town.

So basically I've got a pair of work shoes, which suit the office, that still have 12-24 months of wear on the soles/heels to go. The tan pair still look good as new after 24 months so I can't see them having to be replaced for 10 years.

In what I would spend in three years in normal work shoes I've got a pair of RMs that are virtually indestructible.

Go for quality chaps.

My brother in law bought a pair of R M Williams while down from Newcastle last week.

It was fun watching him break it to his Mrs that they cost $584.

The Marlow's had a very small window of being "right". Took a month or two to break in, we're right for a few months and then rooted before you know it. Harris Scarfe used to be the place to get them on sale.

Gone to Windsor Smith boots with a resole applied as soon as I bought them. 18 months on and the uppers are fine, might need to resole again in a few months. Can't justify paying $500+ for some boots.

Blue Steel safety shoes with laces, I'm mainly in the office but have to venture out into the factory quite often, boots are an overkill and I feel weird in them, the shoes are great as they actually look like any business shoe.
