Ahhh...did that bring back some memories. Watching the clips of old ads on that link was also a real trip down memory lane. The Alulite ad is a chuckle for the fashions and the old jingle ("Think aluminium, think Al-ulite!"!). The John Martin's ad afterwards was another I hadn't seen for years (Johnnies is another institution sadly forgotten...those old lifts with the brass gates inside).
Not to mention when the MTT buses used to go to Kirkcaldy and Oldfield - two parts of Adelaide long forgotten...

I remember the Graymore loop off the Anzac Highway from my brief sojourn as a bus conductor in my student days. The other loop went to Somerton.bayman wrote: another mtt route was to greymore another suburb long forgotten (glenelg north)

We used to call them "crinkle cut romper stompers"(and no, I didn't own a pair
)
Desert boots, I remember my mum making me wear them to school in year one and I hated them, so I lost them and walked home bare foot. Used to pay out Morialta High folk who wore them religiously.
Adidas Romes were for wogs (I can say that, I am one) cool people like me wore Volleys - isnt it funny how fashions come round again?

When I was in high school the 'skins' wore the Romes (and Doc Martins of course) with Red socks, the 'Doggers' (aussies) wore desert boots, Ciaks or ripples brown RM Williams boots depending on image and the 'wogs' wore the black and white runners or Black RM Williams boots.

I reckon we only got that to get the premiership tables at the start of every footy season. Fish & chips was the 'treat' otherwise.
You know us modest Salisbury boys mate!
PS - Have to be happy with the lads efforts on Sunday? Top morning I reckon.
