Just give the pompous prick some money that's what it's really about, jealousy. Yeah everyone probably deserves some money regardless of income, but others need it more than some, bottom line. I'm sure as hell know what situation I'd rather be in, 100k pa. People are just whinging to mask their real agenda, which is gloating, everybody look at me I earn over 100k, I don't get the stimulus package wah wah wah. That's just my opinion though :D

I never heard it but supposedly that former tennis doubles champion Todd Woodbridge was on radio interstate a few weeks ago whinging that he won't be getting the $900 payment. This from a guy with career earnings well over $10m!

doesnt matter what we earn we still spend it, bigger house etc. i earn it but so does my mortgage payment so not getting the stimulas package sucks cos either way it would have been put back into the economy. most of the oldies who get it will just put in a shoe box or hide it away and wont make it into circulation again. heard the other day from someone who works in a bank that its starting to become short of 100 dollar notes and usually does cos all the oldies hang on to them

Just because you earn under $100,000 doesn't automatically mean you will receive it btw.

I'm talking the 'lower' end of the scale.

From the tax office website, you qualify if...
Your adjusted tax liability for 2007 -08 is greater than zero

So therefore if you are on a low income/part time income and you had tax deductions that took you to zero, you will not receive it.

Yes, it is probably fair Dutchy.

But what I'm saying is that they have said "all Australians earning blah, blah, blah"
But that is not the case O:)

I don't think I'm going to get it, but maybe I will. :?
Earning $100K and declaring $10-15K only works for those in largely cash industries - tradies and small shop-keepers.
For the rest of us earnings are checkable from bank records and payee records, and only legitimate deductions will reduce the taxable income.

I spoke to my accountant today to double check that the money would go straight to my account and not to them, it turns out only my business tax return go straight to me, my personal one goes through them, and they informed me that there was going to be a $35 fee for them handling the money, which was the first i had heard of this, so naturally i asked if i would be able to arrange for it to just go straight to my account instead, but they informed me there was a deadline that had past for changing the details with the ATO of where the money goes.
Now, them charging $35 for handling the money is not really the problem i have, what my problem is, is that surely they have some sort of obligation to inform customers that there will be a fee of $35, before the deadline, so that if customers are not happy to pay it, they can then make other arrangements, I know that had i been informed i certainly would have changed my details to have it go straight into my account, as would most of the other customers im sure, it just seems like my accountant has deliberately kept this quiet in a cheeky attempt to clean up from this stimulus package, but what i want to know is legally are they allowed to charge this $35 fee without first informing the customers and giving them the option of avoiding it?
