As much as I love the blue oval, Holden seem to be able to pull off Bathurst wins on a regular basis, but Ford have proven far more consistant over a whole series, taking out the ATCC 7 more times than Holden in the series's 46 year history.
(perhaps this proves Wedgies theory, "The problem with most Ford sales RRTW is that Fords are so good they dont need to be replaced until theyre 20 years old hence why Fords sales are slower than Holdens. The Commodores fall apart after about 2 years hence their owners need to buy another one and that drives sales up.")

The Australian touring Car championship started in 1960

ATCC

Ford, 20 wins
Holden, 13 wins
Jaguar, 4 wins
Nissan, 3 wins
Chevrolet, 2 wins

Mazda, 1 win

The great race ( Bathurst) has had a number of names over the last 43 years, and a number of different manufacturers have won it.

=P~ Looks like all u ford fans just go by the last 3 years !
wedge says ford have won the last 3 champs !
what and HOLDEN didnt win 3 in a row before that, or
is that to far back for u blokes ?
apart from the last 3 years, ford have basically done nothing!
In a 2 horse race, you would think ford are gonna eventually win
something, just like bathurst !!!!!!!

 As astute as you may be at following a footy side, you need to read the facts.

Put brain in to gear before letting loose on the key board.

PS, most of those Bathurst wins from Ford have been in era's that have had far more than 2 manufacturers, you must either be very young, or have a bloody short memory.

how can you say that Holden have been sucessful on and off the track since day dot as you put it Rooster, LEARN TO READ YOU TOOL and get your head out of your a*se and accept the facts

as Wedgie said eariler that Holdens fall apart after a few years and you need to buy another one thus inflating the sales figures oh its so true.

I purchased a vehicle about two years ago and as a loan car to get my business with the car yard the salesman arranged a VT commodore with 130,000 kms on the clock for me to drive while the extras i ordered were installed. That week with the VT was THE WORST week in my drving career. What a shitbox of a car that was with things making weird noises, not working and falling off. My mates wanted to know when i was going to give the Taxi driver his car back!!

A Falcon with 130,000 clicks on the clock would only just be coming into its prime and still at least another 100,000 left in it.

How can people get so upset about household appliances. These cars are the motoring equivalents of toasters, washing machines and fridges, not very exciting but very necessary. Both about the same in terms of quality, secondly, how people do get excited about the two horse "racing" (v8 fridge racing) is a mystery to me

Didn't the VY or VX can't remember, have some massive engine problems that were covered up as they had all done less than 10,000 kms and in 1 case 1500 kms

anyway back to the track Holden have had sucess in the past few years due to the golden dud (AU) being an embarassment for the blue oval but since the begining of time in 1960 Ford have had more sucess which you cant seem to understand.

I'm just amused that people can get so emotional :D It still amazes me people can think car racing that has just two makes is exciting. These cars apart from body shape bear no resemblance to products either company sell to the public. Bathurst was exciting when in was basically a production car race, there was a requirement to sell at least 250 cars to the public. Would you go to the footy every week if you could only see the Crows and Port play? I think not

Seriously Ian, don't you think true production racing, open to any make sold in Australia, would be better than this red versus blue crap, much more interesting. I used to watch bathhurst in those days  You are perfectly right no-one is going to be interested in boats  it's more fun shit stirring here

Mick, I can see where you're coming from and I know a couple of people who have a similar opinion but the fact is V8 Supercar racing is more popular now than its ever been in various formats so you can see why the powers that be would be keen to keep it as is. I did hear a while back that Toyota were looking to get into it too with a couple of other car makers.
