Point Turton seems like a very 'new' town in parts, new pub, lots of new places going up. The block we're interested in will be on mains and is a stones throw from the pub and beach.

Stansbury is beautiful but blocks are harder to come by and more expensive.

Going back up there this weekend to get a feel for each block that we're interested in.

Thoughts on both areas folks?

Mate bought a block at Pt Turton about 5 years ago for $38,000....now he is buying the neighbouring block for $180,000!

don't tell me that MW.....

A bloke here at work has a mate who bought at Hardwicke Bay in 95 for $10k on the beach. The next door neighbour's shack went for 295k just recently.

Point Turton seems my ideal locale, cheap (relatively speaking) and in a developing area. Might get in quick and hopefully reap the benefits for years to come.

Update:

After three trips to the Yorke Peninsula, we've renegged on the idea of Point Turton. The Point is a fantastic place, but the beach is not as good (Flaherty's aside) as North Beach at Wallaroo (note: thanks Aceman!).

Now, just to find a property in the vacinity of the actual beach itself.

Stay tuned.....

You could buy 2 blocks at Turton for the same price as one at Wallaroo. Good luck gadj I hope you find what your looking for

Wallaroo is overrated IMHO, ugly town.

Not necessarily SD. The blocks we were looking at at Pt Turton were in the 100-160 vacinity. The ones at Nth Beach are similarly priced. Better beach at North Beach too and similar distance from the water.

Cheers

I tend to agree MP, but we're not living there, nor going to defend it publicly, just holiday there.

It doesn't have the same feel as places like Stansbury.

North Beach was apparently voted 4th best beach in Australia and more importantly it's the best we've seen BY FAR, hence we'll more than likely buy there in the next week or so.

Thanks Swampy - we're the new owners of a block of land owner at Wallaroo (North Beach to be precise).

Now to find a house/furnishings.....

Still reckon we got a bargain in the scheme of things, given what we saw for the prices going around.

Great work, congratulations. A great spot and as for whether or not you got a bargain or not, well does it really matter, if you can afford it and you love spending time there, there is no issue IMHO :)
