Do something on almost any other day of the year, when least expected and not necessarily for any specific reason...at least then it shows you used your brain and thought of the idea yourself...now that's romantic.

Yes, quite true ... up there with the commercialisation of Christmas and the need to buy presents for everyone.

It just my personal opinion of it so I probably wouldn't try to change her view cos, no offence to your or anyone elses missus, but I suspect once your suckered into it you're pretty much stuck with it.

I know I've got mates who are...I'd consider a cuppa in bed romantic if it was out of character and was done just because he can but they judge romance by the number of ££££££££'s spent...very sad and a bit shallow imho.

BRILLIANT IDEA A Mum !
This could be the answer to all my problems. My cooking abilities should do the trick nicely.
Of course, the coroner might prove intent, but one look at photos of the corpse should even
have the jury screaming ...."It's self defence !"

Risky, but definitely worth a try !

I saw you online and I just knew you'd comment my post in this thread

Valentine's day is just a day to tell/show someone you love them - I mean - My grandmother used to to ring me and say happy valentines day :D
Also I think it's more for the young - pre kids than us older ones O:)

If I said that to Mrs REB or bought some flowers she'd say 'all right, what have you done!'

Really shouldn't have read these whilst having lunch, funny as .. Very good lads!!

Onto Valentines day, I hate it with a passion and always have .. Whilst it's always been rather kind to me, I despise it's meaning - If you genuinely love someone, why should you attempt to show them more on that particular day as opposed to the other 364 in a year?

My wife and I tended to ignore Valentine's Day and saved the tokens for the Ides of March as it was our wedding anniversary.
We had both been married before, and had both sworn "never again", so the date appealed to our sense of humour when we decided to marry.
If we had decided a few weeks sooner she may have wanted to marry on Valentine's Day.

I'm not sure why there's such a dismissal of Valentine's Day. Of course it's commercialised, but so is Mother's Day, Christmas Day, etc; and Valentine's Day has been around for a long, long time.

Whatever you do on Valentine's Day doesn't affect what you do with your relationship on any other day, so why so anti?

Anyone going to not recognise Mothers' Day because it's commercialised? Thought not.

I haven't missed recognising Feb 14th since I was married. It's another chance to celebrate a relationship, something that will always be appreciated, whatever jokes we might make.

Valentines Day shits me no end as my missus birthday is the day before and it means Im always paying overinflated prices for presents or finding it hard to get in a decent restaurant!
About as meaningless as marriage in my book.

Righto - Anyday of the year.

1 : Grab rose from bush* in the front yard.

2 : Send kids to bed early.

3 : How 'bout it?

If you want to go quickly, go alone.

Put toilet seat down for the whole day from first visit to last visit.
Cancel all outdoor jobs for the day so things like lawnmower and whipper snipper noise don't disturb her.
Then, make a quick trip to the servo for a selection of choice flowers, ideally gift wrapped in a nice white plastic bag so the car seat wont get wet. Attach last years (undated) Valentines card in a fresh envelope.
Inaudible farting only - aim to drink a nice bottle of red wine and offer her the beer as a nice change.
Kindly offer the use of the biggest Plasma TV for the night.
Serve gourmet snacks like chutney and beetroot sandwiches (cut crusts off first and triple deck them) and be sure to provide a paper napkin to go with same.
