Birds.

The flying kind.

All stems back to my childhood when...

- Our cocky almost bit my finger off.
- We were cleaning out my budgie Shamus' cage and when it came time to put him back in the cage we couldn't find him. Then I saw him. Well, I saw the end of his leg at least... hanging out of our pet cat Whiskey's mouth. Whiskey looked at me as if she knew she just got busted doing bad. Then Whiskey swallowed him whole.
- Me and my mate got swooped by the ferocious 'Killer Magpie' at Jenkins Reserve. Urban legend has it that this magpie killed a kid in NSW and would fly to SA, specifically Salisbury, for summer. Evil bastard swooped us for a good 500m.

I hate birds.

Dunno, just the way they move, so unpredictable. One minute they run away from you, the next they are trying to get real close.

Come on mate, how can you resist their beautiful big brown eyes?? :D

Drop Bears, nothing worse that frollicking through the forest and a drop bear lands on you, especially when you are taking nature to the extreme.

Heights and Spiders. Spiders are interesting, i dont jump or squirm, but no spiders live whilst around me.

It'd be terrible if a horse were to give you a big bang

On a serious note, they can be flighty and unpredictable. I was once riding a horse and it clipped its flank on a piece of farm equipment. Needless to say, I soon found myself in a rodeo with no audience. Wasn't long before I was on the ground and the horse had taken off.

Stopped surfing completely soon after. I just couldnt get the coal black eyes and toothy expression out of my head.

Add me to the list with heights.

But it is odd, I can climb a ladder and while on it I am crapping myself, in a bad way, but once I get where I am going ( a rrof top etc ) I'm fine. It's just the transition period I cant take.

Rats. Mice, no issue at all. Pick them up and throw them out the house, but a Rat? On the table like the women in old movies screaming for mercy.

Being upside down.

Don't mind heights so much, as long as my feet are closer to the ground than my head. Can do the ferris wheel and the Giant Drop and all those sorts of rides with no probs, but the Double Ranger at the Show & Lethal Weapon at MovieWorld I will never do again.

There is not much I'm actually scared of any more after years of overcoming fears on principle, but I don't like tight enclosed spaces.
Large caves don't worry me but I wouldn't willingly crawl through tiny tunnels like "cavers" do, though I could do it if it were necessary.
I'm not too worried about intruders, and have never had a break in in any of my homes, but I do have a machete handy on the off chance of ever needing it.
[ I have several "edged weapons" left over from the days when I fenced and collected such things.]

I was scared of spiders and bees as a child, probably due to my older sister's influence, but got over it after I'd been nipped and stung by a few, and didn't die.
Venomous snakes don't frighten me but I treat them with respect and caution, and only handle non-venomous varieties.
I'm more cautious about sharks these days than I used to be.

If it's any consolation fish you're in good company...once heard the great naturalist Sir David Attenborough being interviewed and he said that the only animal he's scared of are cows.
