What's the verdict on Coopers Lager?

I like it. I like it a lot in fact. Quite tasty and can see myself buying a few cartons over time. I find I cant drink a lot of Coopers Pale. I love it but it gets me too bloated and after about 4 bottles I cant drink anymore without feeling like crap.

The Lager is a good drop. Much better than the Draught Wedgie. You should like it.

I like most beers going around. Theres a few I cant stand though. Namely Heinekin, Stellas, Crown Lager and the American beers. Just cant drink em.

Favourites? Becks overall. Coopers Pale, Sparkling and Lager. Coronas and Bravara for a 'lighter' beer (not light as mid strength, but a lighter bodied). Ive really gotten into a Japanese beer called Asahi at the moment as well. Similar in taste to a Becks. Quite pricey though...looking around the $60-70 at most places.

Sorry I did not lend my expert opinion to this thread earlier in the weekend; I was too busy drinking beer to log on.

Pseudo's Ozzy beers of choice:
Southwark Premium. Heavily underrated.
Cascade Pale. Also heavily underrated.
Cascade Light - the only light beer that I will happily guzzle.
Cascade Lager

Cant get into the Cascades.

Pseudo's imported beers of choice
Bitburger
Pilsener Urquell
Kronenbourg
Leffe Dark

mm, the Bitburger is bloody nice. I forgot about that one. Dont mind Kronens either. Schofferhofers arent too bad as well.

Common swillwater that Pseudo wouldn't even serve to Port supporters:

Crown Lager - bottom of the premium beer barrel
Hoegaarden - arguably the worst beer on the planet. I want a beer that tastes like beer, not like frickin' cloves of nutmeg.

Hoegarden. Couple of my mates went to a beer festival last year and raved about it...said it was one of the best beers they have had. Maybe they were too pissed to taste it properly though.

Being biased I have to say Pilsner Urquell ranks number 1.

If you want to taste a good quality light imported beer, try Gambrinus also brewed in the Czech Republic.

As well as the flavour, Pilsner Urquell is renowned for its positive effects on stomach and other gastric illnesses.

If you're travelling to the Czech Republic a tour of the Brewery in Pilsen is a must:)

Drinking Budweiser now 4 something different 4 a change !
its not that bad, its better than pale ale the beer that everyone
raves on about ! That and west end are still the most popular BEERS
that we sell by far prob because their local !

Grand Ridge Brewery continued:

Moonshine (8.5%)
A dark scotch ale, if this doesn't put hair on ya chest nothin' will!!!
Very strong flavoured (malty) dark brown (nearly black), probably would have gone down better with a lump of rare steak than 3 hours after tea.
At 8.5% you wouldn't want too many, but I reckon tou would have to really appreciate the strong dark ale flavour to drink enough to get off your ear anyway.
Not really my cup of tea, 4/10.

Hatlifter Stout(4.9%)
For someone who's never been a fan of stout, I actually didn't mind it, maybe it was because I had it 15 min after the Moonshine, very smooth and pretty easy stout to drink for a non stout drinker, 6/10

I forgot to mention it before but my favourite beer of all time is Chilli Beer.

There's a couple of different versions, I first tasted it about 14 years ago and only came across it again this year.

Only downside/benefit with Chilli Beer is you need another "normal" beer on hand as the thing is bloody hot.

Geez Wedgie, you should join the "keg club", after the initial kit cost, $66 (+P&H) for a 20L keg refill is great value, Mrs Wedgie would love to have a keg in the kitchen fridge

Beer, for for persons with male genetalia is brewed from Barley, hops, sugar & vast amounts of chemicals.
Beer brewed from wheat, by government law should be referred to & be put in the Breezer category.
Any beverage made from wheat should also come with a large warning, somehow featuring -

Wedgie, I like the new Coopers Lager (admit that I am biased towards Coopers) and I told a friend of mine who I know is a big fan of Tooheys Extra Dry, that if you like TED (which I do myself) you should like the Coopers Lager IMHO.

For non Coopers beers, I like
Carlton Draught. 4 out of 5
Carlton Premiun Draught. 3 and a half out of 5
Tooheys Extra Dry. 3 and a half out of 5
Crown Lager. 3 and a half out of 5

The lemon is to cover up a problem with "light strike" apparently light going through the clear bottles causes a chemical reaction that real beer gourmets find offensive. I think the average punter wouldn't pick it up. This problem only occurs if beer is bottled in clear or green bottles, ideally beer should only be bottled in amber glass, but the marketing boys like the clear and green bottles. A mate of mine who is an industrial chemist (unfortunately a Collingwood supporter ) has developed a coating for bottles that prevents light strike, he's had quite a lot of interest from big international brewers. On that note: The Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam is the best value tourist attraction on the planet. For an entrance fee of less than 2 Aussie dollars you get a tour of the factory with a Heinie along the way - and when you get to the end, as many Heinies as you can guzzle in 45 minutes. You emerge into the Amsterdam sunshine at midday, three sheets to the wind, staggering happily in the direction of the nearest coffeeshop...

I went in the wrong order- coffee shop first then Heineken Brewery in my case. i too emerged at midday 3 sheets to the wind, and spent a couple of hours that arvo sitting dazed & confused on the steps at Ann Franks house.
In Czech Republic the Czesky Budejivic brewery which brews the original Budweiser is good value at 60 cents per 1/2 litre glass.

As a serious home brewer, real beer does NOT contain sugar or vast amounts of chemicals. Only the crap from Lion Nathan & CUB does amp; . Written in German food law, beer is only to contain barley (or wheat), malt, hops & water. Coopers Lager is like the taste you will get from a malty home brew.

I tried a Carlton Black tonight (as it was the last beer in the fridge left over from Xmas) and must admit its not a bad drop.

Only 4.4% but tastes a lot more potent.
