I'd like to add that last year I had a grade 4 student that turned 11 years old... there is no such thing as an age appropriate year level.
& surely you would concede that is the exception, rather than the rule???

Still can't admit you're wrong can you Punky?

Feel free to mate.I don't care if you're mum is the minister for Education you still stuffed up.
You might want to address my post that you described as "rubbish" a tad further:
"You do realise kids turn 11 in year 5 these days?"
Feel free to try and prove that no kids turn 11 in year 5 and I'll admit Im wrong, problem is I already have at least 1 case study in my house at the moment which proves my statement true so you're pushing shit uphill to say the least. ;)

It was possible for kids to be 11 in year 5, but they were generally born late in the year.

Reception starts when the child turns 5- depending on when that is, they may have to "repeat" Reception (or are all the kids at your school "dullards" who've had to repeat? ).
Normal people like myself were smart & born early in the year

Generally, the children born in the first six months are the 'right' age for their year level. The children that start school in the second six months of the year will often repeat reception for their own benefit. Whether or not the term three intake repeats or moves up to grade 1 is based on the teachers decision if they feel the child is ready to move up. Term 4 intake will repeat reception.
